only to wake up the next morning with temps in the 30's and say "Oh hell no"

Props to Roger in alaska and anybody who has to go longer than 2 months of temps in the 30's

Does anyone on the OT actually enjoy long winters?
if so why?

This has got to be one of the most Florida statements I’ve ever heard.

The footage they show is beautiful. The people having to wear 4 coats and a bear skin precludes me from wanting to live there.

It intrigues me because you would be able to get away from mass consumer idiot society a little more up there. Find some peace and quiet. I like cooler weather and have gotten to hate summer as I have gotten older due to the heat. But, yeah, once you start getting into single digits on a regular basis it would get old quick I would think.

Beautiful scenery, terrible living conditions. No way I'm freezing my arse off 8 months a year.

Some of the best times of my life was a semester I spent in the mountains of Colorado. I kick myself everyday for not staying there and moving back after that semester.

I love the snow. Love the cold weather. Hate the heat down here.

Heck no.

I like some colder weather but there is a fine line for me and having extreme cold for that long is just not how i want to live.

I thoroughly enjoy doing outside work in the warmer weather without a shirt on so my tattoos show so i can piss off my neighbors

Every Alaska show I see, no running water and an outhouse. My wife says nope.

I was stationed there for 3 yrs; its THE most beautiful state and it's not close and the weather/temps ain't the #1 reason I don't want to live there.......#1 is earthquakes

Hard pass.

I fricking hate winter. It’s miserable enough around here despite going years between snowfalls in most cases.

Weird thing is that I work with people from up north, such as the Dakotas and various Canadian provinces, and they bitch about the winters here too. Apparently it has to do with the humidity level.

Absolutely. When July rolls around and its 75, it’ll be heaven. I’ll also go spend my off mornings drinking coffee and watching orca’s

I wouldn't want to live in Alaska, but Montana, Wyoming, parts of Colorado I would love to live in. It's not that I hate the heat of Louisiana, it's for big sky, clean mountain air, and peace and quiet.

Some parts of places like Tennessee, North Carolina, West Virginia too.

-10 and low humidity > 96 and 98% humidity.

I could do it, but I grew up in the Northeast.

I enjoy winter for the most part. Nothing like having a glass of bourbon while the snow comes down outside. And then there’s the option of skiing.

Sure, just like anything it has it’s drawbacks at times, but overall I like the cold weather.

Certainly makes you appreciate summer more when it comes around, too.
