You know a lot of men and women go to prison for life and NEVER contemplate homosexual sex because of its easy Access.
Tard.

It would allow the church to be more selective. You cant tell me some of these guys didnt have red flags and were ordained anyway because there were more billets to fill than candidates.
This seems obvious to me, yet I was similarly downvoted in another thread for saying so.
Maybe it was because I also recommended allowing women to become priests too

Do you really believe purgatory is real?
I mean seriously.

1. Confession required through an earthly priest. Not taught by Jesus
John 20:21 - "As the Father has sent me, even so I send you."
John 20:22-23 - "Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained."

2. No mention of purgatory in Jesus teaching
Purgatory in the Bible

3. Jesus taught baptism after conversion not at birth.
Jesus did no such thing.
St. Paul, in his later to the Colossians, calls baptism the "circumcision of Christ." Only infants were circumcised under the Old Law. If Paul meant to exclude infants, I doubt he would have used circumcision to draw a parallel to baptism.
quote:
4. Human (Pope) determining/changing doctrine. Jesus taught God’s word is unchanging. Regardless of society.
1. The Pope does not do this unilaterally.
2. In the Gospel of St. Matthew, Jesus gave Peter the authority to bind and loose doctrine in Heaven. This principal is applied in Acts 15 when Peter and the Council of Jerusalem reject the Old Law by not requiring infants to be circumcised.
quote:
5. Based on his humble life and teachings I doubt Jesus intended the “church” to become the largest/richest business in the world.

That’s some pretty weak sauce.

The Bible tells us that nothing unclean can enter Heaven. To die with sin on your soul is to die spiritually unclean. Let's say you are at work one day and you go to the break room to get a coke from the communal store. You reach into your pocket and realize you don't have any change or cash on you. You look around, make sure no one's watching, and you grab a coke with every intention of paying for it the next day.
In the eyes of God, even though you know in your heart of hearts that you're going to come back with money, you've just committed a sin. Now let's say your on your way home from work that afternoon, you get into a car wreck, and you die. You didn't pay for the coke and you hadn't paused to ask God for forgiveness yet. Do you go to Heaven? Or do you go to Hell?

Pedophiles are born with their attraction to children. They start to realize that attraction at a early age, and many will structure their lives to enable them to be around children, often choosing careers that will give them access to children. The priesthood was almost designed to be the perfect career path for a pedophile. They had access to children, until recent history their character and motives would go unquestioned.
The one positive thing that would be accomplished by allowing priest to marry would be expanding the pool of men that would be interested in being a priest beyond those that are homosexuals, or pedophiles.

If nothing with sin can enter, what was the point of Jesus? Why would there be another level? Why have a middle management area?
It’s a stupid concept.

the concept of a sacrifice to secure blessing of the Deity is fairly universal so , it's illogical to single out Christianity

Putting aside that you are begging the question of universal salvation, I’m not sure that scripture is the heaven you mean.
Jesus did have a lot to say about nit picky, rule making, self righteous jackasses. He didn’t like them much. Try again, Vapid Vaticanist.

If a soda determines my eternity then God/Jesus can go frick themselves, show me the door to hell. It has to be a better place.
