The reason these “evil priests” exist is because Catholicism ignores another primary Biblical teaching, that of a marital relationship between a man and woman that has existed since Creation. Celibacy required of priests and nuns isn’t only not scriptural, but it’s unnatural and creates the biggest issue that the church faces.
Please explain to me how celibacy creates a pedophile problem? If a priest wanted sex, he could hire a prostitute if he wanted to. I’m no psychologist but lack of sex doesn’t automatically make men pedophiles.

Catholicism is not perfect, but, I believe it is the closest thing to what Jesus imagined for his church, as it is the oldest form of Christianity, can trace its apostolic succession to Peter, and it’s certainly older and more traditional than Hill Country Baptist Guitar Church found in the Bible Belt. Every form of Christianity broke off from Catholicism.
You are probably right. Jesus was all about gaudiness and materialism. And he also was probably cool with the whole alter boy thing.

If you think that, so be it. It’s my belief and I am simply defending it best I can in this forum.

So we're going to go by the oldest? Let's all become Hindus and call it a day.
Oldest form of Christianity would be what we are talking about here, but glad you could google worlds oldest religion that quickly...

Matthew 18:18 for starters, but I’m not your google search. I encourage you to visit catholic answers, a helpful website that explains everything about our beliefs in plain terms.
Thanks, no. I’m deeply in my fourth read of the Bible, and I have found amazingly little of the bullshite Catholics spew in there. Probably because most of it comes from crap made up by other sinners, just like myself. You guys just take that crap and make it gospel.

Show me in the Bible where it says that sola scriptura is to be followed.

Catholic Church owes everything to Dante and not the Bible.

I’m shocked the religious ones in this thread are the most out of touch with reality.

I didn't have to google it, it's common knowledge.
Without getting this thread the anchor(surprised it hasn't happened already) your argument of 1700 years falls flat on it's face.
ETA
Because in the grand scheme of things Christianity would be considered a startup religion.

Hate to tell them, but suicide is a mortal sin and as there is no chance for absolution through confession, it is the teaching of the Church that the gates of Heaven are barred.
God you people are fricking insane How can you type this with a straight face?

Show me where following sinners, instead of, and in the face of the accepted word of God makes one anything other than evil.

But still the priests are associating with the Vatican? Why associate with an organization you have so much disdain for? Oh, because thats who makes sure you have a job.

Nice try, though. I know this goes against the popular narrative that Catholics defend rapists.
You must be very tired from all the mental hoops you jump through every Sunday trying to ignore that your portion of your tithes are ending up in the coffers of an organization who systemically tried to hide child rape. Go take a nap, you earned it.

Past tense is a mistake here. They are actively doing so today, and will be tomorrow. And as long as the good Catholics like those in this thread condone it, the perpetuation and even promotion of child rape will continue. The sinner at the head of their church, the sinner they have declared holy, is cool with it.

Doubling down? Is this poker? I'm saying I don't proselytize, and neither should ignorant ones.
The ignorant attacks spewed on here are forms of prostylization for a vapid and moral free existence.
What's with the snowflake bullshite? There's no hard facts or insight being spewed in this thread. I've got no need to find a safe space.
You may need one, if summoned to opine.

It’s about denying a natural, God-given drive that creates the problem. Pedophilia is based on access. Do you really think the child rape problem would exist if priests were allowed to marry?

I would have knocked the priest out. But I also wouldn’t be having a catholic funeral.

With 100% confidence, yes. What a terrible question.

Yes.
You know, a priest could break his vow and nail some strange instead of raping children.
There are plenty of married pedophiles.
So, yes. I do.
