The greedy arse churches in NLA have started expanding to different "campuses." The bigger churches are steadily buying other churches and property. It's like a state school trying to blow their budgets by accumulatin real property.

Being that I know the man personally, have known him since before he became a priest and he is not a priest at the church I go to on a weekly basis, yes.
He could have been lied to as well, or he might be corrupt. I have no idea, but I want to support my local church so I give some money. I might be aiding church settlements, but how else am I supposed to keep the lights on in the place I go to bring my family for an hour of reflection per week?

I don't know the answer to that one. But I guess if you feel like you're getting value equal to or above what you're giving then it's a fine deal for you.

Go and check it out. Meet with the pastor individually and ask him your questions in confidence. You should be able to get a better feel for whether it is sleazy or not.

Here's the thing: it's impossible to love as much as God does. But I love my children as much as possible, through what I do for them, how I correct them, how I serve them, and just the attention I give them. There's no doubt, or at least I hope there isn't, in their minds that their daddy loves them very much. So when I attempt to teach them about God, teach, not brainwash, and I short change His love and greatness, I'm not doing them any favors either.
Plus, my goal is to raise them to seek their self worth in God and spiritual things, not in stuff that's going to fail them at some point. I don't want my son to judge his life on how well he can play baseball or how good looking he thinks he is. I want him to know his value based on a God who will never abandon him, made him just the way He wanted him, and has a purpose for him. That's what I want my children to know. If they reject that, I will mourn it but it's out of my hands, but I will still love them.

John Gray makes a ton of money from speaking engagements and books. I wonder when people will realize that the very well off pastors of the world very rarely make a lot from the church they pastor. Osteen doesn't even take a salary from Lakewood, but his book sales are super high.

they get their pesos bro, otherwise they wouldn't be in the racket, CEO of my company plays the "I don't take a salary" bit too, doesn't mention all of the stock, no interest loans(with no payback terms,) and the other gazillion perks he gets

But ain't it funny how the most religious places are those populated by poor people with no hope? All I'm saying is I grew up in (and still live in) the thick of the bible belt, in some poor areas, and the people I knew didn't strike me as having gotten a lot of help from anyone.
