I had this realization years ago when my son was first born and I didn't think I could love anybody as much as him. Then I thouhgt of how much God loves him, how much he knows about him......evertyhing, including every little baby dream he's having, knowing that my son is His and I just am blessed with the privilege to raise him and watch him grow up. In comparison, my love seems like hate when put up against the inmeasurable love of God.
Unless you are trolling, you’d have to be mentally ill to write this paragraph. An imaginary friend, who is capable of knowing your son’s dreams (and 7+ Billion others), loves your son more than you do.
Where in the Bible does it say to throw your self-worth as a father into the trash can?

Well, it is crappy. It takes trying to change the words to something else for it to not be crappy. How do you know what to take literally and what to try to interpret to something different?
Easy, if the words fit your narrative, use the words. If they don't fit your narrative or desires, "interpret" them.

I asked him the exact question of "How do I know my money isn't paying for the Church to cover up pedophiles?" And that was what I was told. Earmark checks or give in the basket.
So you asked the institution accused of committing and lying about the crime where your money going to support them was directed, and simply believed their answer at face value?

Meh Duplantis is looking for 60 million a new 7x to upgrade his current Falcon this is small potatoes in comparison. These people should all be tied up and shot in my opinion ,but what can you do? They have found a loophole with tax exempt status ,and prey on the poor and stupid to give them money.

f you present the gospel in a way that is easy to understand, you're not preaching the gospel, it's something else entirely.

A have a few questions:
Why would a successful (ex) lawyer quit his practice and start a non denominational church?
Why would said church change names every 5 years or so? (Tax reasons?)
The weekly congregation is anywheres from 30-75 people...
My wife’s family is trying real hard to get us to join their church.. that’s really all I know about the pastor/church... I was raised Catholic but as of right now, I’m pretty apathetic about religion so I was open to give this church a shot, but it just seems sort of sleazy to me
I have more questions than answers when it comes to this shite

I hear you. But, it's pretty circular to me. I believe x because I read it in the book. And, because it's in the book, i believe it. That book was put together by some dudes in in the 300s AD.
That book tells you that you if required, you may have to abandon your kids in furtherance of your belief in the book. Again, as a parent, how does that not make you think twice about the book?

This type of stuff amazes me. As someone who is not religious and will watch those shows about cults and the mindset that they create that allows them to flourish, they are literally one and the same with the uber religious. It's freaking crazy.
But the way I think about it is, if someone had kept up the illusion about Santa our entire lives, with everyone around me reinforcing it and me continuing to accept that, we'd all worship at the alter of Santa...because when I was a kid, I believed in Santa just as much as I did the whole Jesus/God thing.

I watched a guest pastor years ago hold somewhat of an auction during offering time.
"Do I have anybody that God will lead to give $100?"
"What about $500 worth of God's love?"
"Who wants their cup to runneth over? Who does God want to sow a $1,000 seed?"
He would wait between each number and point out those getting up to bring the money.
The greedy arse churches in NLA have started expanding to different "campuses." The bigger churches are steadily buying other churches and property. It's like a state school trying to blow their budgets by accumulatin real property.

Do you know how many of his dumbass books he sells? Hes a scum bag for sure, but hes likely getting most if not all of his big dough from his book sales.
Yesterday there was a thread about him and I looked up something on him. His arena where he holds service holds 16,800 people and it stated that each week 52,000 people attend his services. As I stated yesterday, if everyone who attends his services every week gave $1, that would be just over $2.7 million.
I have no idea if they pass a basket around or what, but let's say each person, every week is worth $5 to him that's $13.5 Million.
Now, throw in all the people who reaches out to through TV, radio, etc. I wouldn't even know where to begin to put an estimate on that, but let's be modest and say all over the world, not including the people who attends his services, he has 300,000 people who are loyal and they are worth.. Let's say a modest $5 a year to him. That is another $1.5 million, so that's $15 million.
That's a modest estimate I assume. I'd love to know how much they do to actually help people.

Easy to say "that makes sense" and just accept it?
There's the part about God coming down in human form as Jesus, same as God but still man, lived a perfect life, but was crucified because of it, died but was alive after 3 days, went up to heaven, and is coming back on a white horse.
Then the stuff about living for God, giving up everything, forgetting yourself and serving others, turning from sin. No, not a lot of people buy into that.
