The circumstance of this being their last hurdle to homefield advantage makes it a more important game to me
This is a stupid argument

You are discounting that we have already played, and beaten, the #1 defense in the league...on the road.
The Saints in the Dome in December and January is another level. Regardless who's offense or defense comes into that jungle, they are going to have a tough time

I’m not discounting that at all, the saints are a force and are going to be favored against anyone at home and for good reason. I’m just stating that the Bears defense is a problem.
Baltimore plays disciplined defense, but they’ve only taken the ball away 9 times this season; which is remarkably low. The Bears have taken the ball away 30 times, which leads the NFL. They’re +12 in margin, also tops in the league. Baltimore is -6. They can and do change games on big defensive plays. I don’t think Chicago is going to win the Super Bowl by any means, but they are going to be a very tricky first round matchup for someone and could absolutely spring an upset the way they play defense.

There are parallels but pretty different scenarios in these games.
Saints-Cowboys was the Saints 3rd game in 11 days with the last on the road. While people want to claim they had a full week to prepare, that doesn’t fix the drain that type of schedule puts on players.
The Rams came off a bye and road game in Detroit where they looked mediocre but won. Then went on the road. It’s not the same thing.
Dallas defense is good but their style of defense is entirely dependent on the officials swallowing their whistles on holding, PI and illegal contact. Their DB coach was DB coach for the Legion of Boom in seattle. There is a reason it looks so similar and why again today they got away with a ton against Philly but once Philly adjusted they burned them.
Dallas barely beat a Philly team that is in their 4th string DBs at this point at at home.
Chicago lost to the Giants.
Consistency is not their strengths. Both the Rams and Saints will be better if rematches happen in the playoffs versus those two, especially at home.

Defense has still impressed.
Saints need to get their best olineman healthy.. Huge difference here.. and they desperately need a #2 WR. Maybe Ginn will play soon?

NO and LA better take care of business, because the Bears are 2 games back and NOBODY wants to have to go into Soldier Field on that tall arse grass in that weather against that defense. Playing outdoors on grass in a cold weather city with a good defense is the best home field advantage there is.
What Dallas did to NO is still more impressive IMO because it was in perfect dome conditions.

Cowboys will get worked in the dome
The Cowboys held the Saints to 10 points in perfect 75 degree dome conditions on the same turf the Saints play on.
NO would probably win, but it’s not like Dallas shut them down on 3” grass in the snow. In general it’s very hard to blow out teams like Dallas who play defense and run the ball.

Dallas will lose in the first round as usual

The anti-Saints crowd just conveniently forgets that the Saints defense has been killing it for awhile now.

So when Jon Gruden wins the award for NFL executive of the year does the league give it to him for his work with the Bears or the Cowboys?

Watching all of the teams play the Saints look the most complete right now with the way the defense is playing
Any playoff team coming to the dome will have major issues
Bears would benefit just as much as the Saints with home field.

I agree about the Bears defense and it was a great win last night. It also shows why home field will be awesome for the Saints and even the Rams.
The Bears offense is an issue and they got lucky to not give up 2 Pick Sixes. If the Bears play the exact same defensive AND OFFENSIVE game last night but they are on the road against the Rams (or Saints) they lose 70% of the time, and probably 90% of the time in a playoff game.

We’ve played well against the #1 and #5 ranked defenses, Ravens and Vikings.
I don't care what the stats say, Chicago is the best defense in the NFL. There are good defenses and there are nasty defenses. Chicago is nasty. The problem with stats is that they reflect what defenses give up the fewest yards. They don't reflect what defenses make the plays that change games. Chicago's defense is the best in the league at doing that.

Hey guys, don't look now, but the Packers are pretty much odds on favorites for the Super Bowl now. Just need Washington, Carolina, and Philly to lose another one, Seattle or Minnesota to lose three, and Pack has to win out.
See you boys in the divisional round.

Overall I agree, I’m just saying the Saints have played well against 2 top 5 defenses. The stats may hide things but Vikings and Ravens are still really good defenses.

No doubt, and are ridiculous with amount of turnovers

Bears did the exact same thing, all against divisional opponents, and won all 3, including a road game while starting terrible chase daniel at qb, following an 88 hr turnaround.
