You're supposed to lower your speed to match an upcoming speed limit, and you can't speed up to get to a higher speed limit until you cross the sign.

The speed limit on 71 between that exit and LeBeau should be at least 65, not 55.

My family calls it "slowpoke road"

Port Barre. I go through Arnaudville just to avoid the port barre police.

Those frickers pulled me over one time, must have been a slow night or something and they were just picking random people probably, hoping they could find something. The guy said my license plate light was out after checking my driver's license and insurance, said get it fixed. I got to where I was going and it was on and working perfectly fine.

I think their motto must be that not having someone pulled over constantly, is a waste of time and not allowed even if everyone is obeying the law perfectly.

That's pretty much speeding tickets EVERYWHERE. But, if you've driven the speed trap corridor before, then you know where you can drive over the speed limit, and where you cannot. You see "now entering xxxxx corp limits", you slow down to the speed limit and keep your eyes peeled for another decrease in speed because where it goes from 55 to 45, it is usually followed by 45 to 35.

Erwinville, Livonia, Krotch Springs, the Barry...you will get a ticket. It's not a matter of if, but when.

And i'd take that over hours of a standstill on whiskey bay.

ETA: just a side note, if you are in Livonia, Best Burger used to be really good when i was growing up. Haven't eaten there in years, but their burgers were great. Just make sure there is a bathroom within the next 30 minutes to an hour of your drive.

Recently drove on I-15 in Utah and it was glorious. Speed limit was 80! Had the cruise control set to 87 until we got to Salt Lake.

It amazes me anyone gets a ticket in Port Barre or Krotz Springs anymore. I thought all of south Louisiana knew about the speeding in there.

So you're questioning the motive behind enforcing a law? Don't break the law and there's no problem.

I've been pulled over on pretty much every major road in LA, but never on 190. Even got popped twice by LSP going into Lebeau on 71, but just cruise down 190.

I think the cops did get used to seeing my truck, so they didn't pull me over, but I don't drive it regularly anymore, and still don't get pulled over

So he was speeding, gets a ticket for speeding, and I'm the bad guy for suggesting he not speed?

Wait, you drive from Dallas to NOLA instead of taking a one hour flight?
Do you have to make work stops along the way or something else?
Trying to figure out if I am missing out on something by not driving;)

You have a point.

However, there is a separate point to be made as well, and that is that LA ranks among the worst states in the union for speed traps such that we consistently get picked on by the National Motorist Association and the legislature has made steps to reform the problem. This is one particular example of where revenue production seems to be the primary motive. If safety was the primary concern, the police officers would camp out in plain view right where the speed limit changes instead of hiding out waiting to get people who don’t immediately notice the speed limit has dropped 20MPH for no apparent reason.
