There is cash buried out there somewhere

A 2000 foot strip isn't long enough for my plane. Hard pass.

I saw that one a while back and thought “that could be a fun place to rebuild.” Guess my enthusiasm isn’t shared by people with the money to actually do it.

Private runway just screams drug running.
Allan Stanwyck would be proud.

It was my great aunt and uncle's place. I think it flooded 3 times since the 80's.
The house was awesome before the flood. Except for the 70's shag carpet throughout the living area and kitchen that was there. We tried to save it the day of the flood for some reason. Realized how dumb that was and said frick the carpet let's leave before we have to swim out.
The house was designed to withstand flooding but not 12 feet under.
It's also on Bayou Manchac so if the runway is shut down you can still escape via boat.

You used to be able to enter the property and drive down the runway just about two years ago. Someone finally chained off the property.
I’d like to know what remediation was done after the flood.
The airstrip still has an FAA callsign and registry. I don’t know much about the current ownership but the FAA lists it as some type of family trust.

So what did your great aunt and uncle need a runway for? In the 80s?

That seems like a really cool property with a ton of potential at that price.

That is a cool arse house & property. Bummer that it floods so regularly.

Only 2,000 feet? Pfffffftt. My BBJ could never land there

That house is ugly even for the 70's. Looks like a bank in a poor town.

745K doesn't seem like much for that. House is ugly as frick though.

As far as I know my uncle just had that much money and had a hobby flying planes.

Actually it looks like a John Jacob Desmond designed home. He was a very famous Baton Rouge architect. That would make it quite valuable.
