Yes, I know that additional picks were involved, but we give away draft picks like they're candy on Halloween.

I'm guessing it was multiple picks AND players we'd want to keep and not just Solomon Hill. If it was Solo, filler and 2 1sts I think they'd have done that.

2 summers ago when there were all kinds of rumors of Jrue getting a near max deal and people were premelting, I bet over 90% would have traded Jrue for Butler straight up. It's really funny how things can change so quickly.

First point I would make is that it wasn't actually stated they wanted a high end player AND picks, but honestly if we assume it was, which does make sense, take Jrue and AD off the table and I am not sure who I would say no to giving up?

Butler is my favorite player outside anyone on the Pels but we know Jrue is locked in to stay and he has great team chemistry that you probably don’t want to frick with. If there was another way to get him it would have been intriguing though. I honestly think AD would have made it clear to keep Jrue also.

Jrue is younger. His 'max' is much smaller. Fits this team well.
Butler is great player, but his next contract is so terrifing...
I dont see Thibs willing to accept Hill.
So probably Moore? Mirotic?

Why are people assuming the Wolves don't want Covington?
This guy has 4 years left making on average $11.7M/yr.
He's finished in the top 5 in +/- at the SF the last 2 years, and was #1 last year. He's one of the best defenders in the league and shoots in the upper 30's from 3. He is one of the best contracts in the NBA that isn't a rookie. He's 6'9". He's not your #1 or even #2 guy, but he is exactly what a team like the Pels need to play with AD and Jrue.
Minnesota isn't letting him go, and if they do, they are retarded. We could do a simple Wesley for Covington trade. I'd give them 2 unprotected 1sts with that too, and they'd still be dumb to do that trade.

On top of all of the reasons you listed, I'm sure they had other offers with decent current players on the table. If they took the one from Philly, it's because they want those players more than other assets they could have had.

For sure. I'm not attacking those people, I'd have been among them, but it's truly remarkable how much Jrue has improved.
