Per Schefter:
“More background on why Saints are now signing Dez Bryant: New Orleans’ WR Cameron Meredith is being placed on injured reserve and will undergo arthroscopic knee surgery, per sources. Meredith is expected to make a full recovery.”

Now we see why the Bears didn't want to resign him.

Worth the risk. We still get to see what he can do next year and after that he is off the books.
Saints were smart and mitigated his signing by investing a high draft pick at WR. Smith looks the part and will only get better with time.
Win some/lose some.

All is not lost. The guy is still young and has a lot of potential. A full offseasons to continue to learn the playbook and get his knee right and I think he will do well next year.

Scope surgery lands you on IR? Hmmm

They are IRing him so they can take a WR off the active roster without cutting him.
We will have to make some WR decisions later in the year as well when Lewis and Ginn have the chance to come off IR. Lewis can be activated by next week I believe if they choose to. He’s already practicing.

It does when you can't play due to the injury and the roster spot is badly needed.

Scope is typically a month. By that time Ginn gets back. Would you even need Meredith at that point?

Nah just thinking he was never quite right going into the year, the dez move just freed us up to shelve him and hope for the best next season

Hope he just takes his time and gets back to being healthy. He's a luxury at this point.

It does when it happens in week 10

Typical Saints redshirt move. Detillier has been saying since the Saints signed Meredith that he wouldn't be fully healthy until year 2.

I am fine with this. Meredith has huge upside, but you could tell his knee was not right.

The limited amount we got to see him play this year he looked promising.
His last game that he caught anything was against Washington and besides the fumble he was targeted 5 times and caught all 5 passes for 71 yards. He caught a few balls against the Giants and then the TD against Atlanta.
I think he's going to turn out to be a good long term investment. He at least produces when called upon.

Scope surgery puts him out at least a month or so. Less than two months in the season.
Can't save a spot for a guy that didn't play that much for a month or more at this point.

He said Meredith wouldn’t catch a pass here. So no he wasn’t
