Ponchy Pub isn’t a bad place. It’s the people who are in there on Saturday nights. There’s more tattoo sleeves with trucker hat baws than you’d think existed. I’ve seen fights start there because of arguments of who made more money building scaffolds.

In the "nice little towns", you use to be able to get away with a lot more than people are able to today. Like anything else, with social media and the world being much smaller now, a lot of things people would have normally never heard about.. now make the news.
Getting beat to death is obviously extreme, but going into a "small town" bar and getting in a fight, getting beat up if you are not a regular or local, etc isn't anything new.

Ponchatoula's Police Chief told me today , the fight that led to Robert Bowers' death at the Ponchatoula Pub was not over LSU-Alabama game. The Chief said the fight began over an incident involving Bowers' niece, who was intoxicated. Heartbreaking still, but not over football.
