My apologies. They are pursuing the angle that it was an attack motivated by said fandom when all signs are pointing to it being something else entirely.

ETA: to the guy above me, someone who was there is claiming the deceased was trying to remove a drunk girl he knew from the bar and she wasn't happy about leaving.
Two big fellows thought it was something it wasn't, jumped him, and then hit him while he was the ground because they're trashy and that's what trash does.
Partly True.
the deceased and his family were all there partying, some of the fam left early, but the niece stayed and was belligerently drunk attempting to hit on multiple women in the bar, and for whatever reason was not cut off or removed, apparently the assailants took exception to what was going on and had words with the deceased, he spit in the face and swung on Azia, azia hit back, he fell and hit his head, they each hit once more and walked for the door. I dont think it was exactly self defense, but it wasnt the brutal murder these people are making it out to be either. This was a bar fight gone bad, in an over capacity establishment that probably could have been prevented if the bouncers, bartenders, and the fire marshal were proactively doing their jobs.
also, this is the view there this morning.

The bouncer at the Pub usually does a real good job. Big bowed up guy. Maybe he wasn't there or something happened to them and he isn't working there anymore. I haven't been on a weekend in a year or so.

I think Aaron should probably know by now when he needs to bring in extra guys, and lsu/bama is definitely one of those nights ya know? its not like he doesn't know his crowd by now, and I hope hes having a conversation with his bartenders about when to cut off service to patrons and pay better attention to whats going on around them.
Its a sad situation, but hopefully they learn from it.

Ponchy being a skip and a jump from Amite, I'm sure there are Bama jerseys there quite frequently.

Is amite some Bama enclave or something?

This just sounds like a bar fight. The Bama angle is being played up because the national media will jump all over it. I haven't seen any real evidence that the victim's Bama fandom incited anything. Women cause a heck of a lot more poor decisions by men than football ever did.

The thing is, it’s almost never the same crowd as the night before. You have regulars who think they’re part owners, and d-bags who come in on a whim thinking they’re Conner McGregor.
I’ve had some awesome nights and have been caught up in fights some nights.
I will say this, my wife came home Monday night and asked me if I heard about it, and I said no. She told me the story and that he was in an Alabama sweatshirt and I told her to stop right there. There was no way it was over the football game and that I guarantee something else happened.

I used to go to bars a lot back in my day (socially and for business )and still do every now and then. I have never seen a bartender cut someone off for being too drunk.

I can’t stand people who say shite like this.. the liability falls solely on the people who were involved in the fight. Leave it at that, unless you’re just setting the stage for some lawsuits
Posted on 11/8/18 at 11:47 am to Mr. Hangover
The liability yes. Which is why there are only two men in jail. Still doesn’t mean that as a smart business owner you shouldn’t be proactive about potentially harmful situations that damage your businesses reputation. That’s just silly.

They’re out there right now with the news again, putting up red heart balloons in front of the bar doors.
