I don’t know if we have a “legal shoe” in world records... but that’s gotta be pushing it.

I’ve worn Brooks GTS’s for probably the last 7 years. I stocked up on the 17’s but my last pair is at its end. I can’t find anymore 17’s. The newer versions all the way up to the new 20’s have a garbage super soft upper mesh. I want a more stable upper as the 17’s provided. Any suggestions on which shoe to pivot to?

3N, that’s a frickin clown shoe and you know it. Nike’s like “hold my beer; watch this” and my instagram will be full of fools gushing about how fast this shoe made them. This board with be rife with y’all talking about how much of a “game changer it is”. Hell yeah Im mad and I don’t think even know why! Get off my damn lawn.
OWSA, maybe try the Brooks Revel 2. It’s cheaper, the sole is firm and the upper is pretty stiff. I didn’t care for it but it’s made up of all the technology of a pre ‘18 Brooks shoe. Definitely try before you buy because they are a little narrow. The mesh upper doesn’t really have a lot of give to it so it might be what you’re looking for. The 3 is already out so the 2 will be on sale or try the 3

Oh I absolutely know it’s a clown shoe. No question.
I stopped liking anything Nike before their politics crap. Not that I’m going to boycott a company for much of anything, boycotts are just dumb. They keep throwing in all these dumb features and not making good quality shoes.
My wife works out in the revel 2 and really likes it. What’s funny is that it’s on the low end for brooks and she thinks it’s the best shoe she’s ever worn. I couldn’t even convince he to try nicer ones.
I know it will piss you off, but I thought it felt good and stiff like the GoMeb Razor.
I ran in the pizza version for that 5k the other day.
Been digging the boosts. I won’t have any need to buy one in the near future since I have these and the Brooks with less than 100 miles on them, but I’ll for sure consider them in the future.

I’m on my second pair of Razor 3. I prefer them over all the shoes I run in.

I’m razzing him about the 2. I recommended it and he didn’t like it at all. It’s a super stiff shoe but a great one for speed work outs.
I have one for training and one for races.

interesting post from Ryan Hall. he was America's best marathoner at one time and his wife Sara is still a stud.
quote:
ryanhall3 With all due respect to @kipchogeeliud as he is clearly the greatest marathoner of all-time irregardless of the shoes he is in, when a shoe company puts multiple carbon fiber plates in a shoe with cushion between the plates it is no longer a shoe, it’s a spring, and a clear mechanical advantage to anyone not in those shoes. I’m just hoping @iaaf_athletics makes sure the upcoming Olympics and @wmmajors are fair playing fields for athletes of all brands.

I saw that. ”Protosofthegram” Instagram page posted a response. Apparently the shoe his wife wore in a recent race had a carbon plate, so I get what he’s saying but it’s a bit hypocritical.
I admit I am kind of a Nike fanboy, but I have no problem with progression of tech in the shoes. Reality of it is Nike’s tech breeds better competition from other brands and come race day all the other professional runners will be wearing similar shoes anyway. It still comes down to physical ability one way or another.

oh absolutely. i'm not an opponent and don't necessarily agree with Ryan. I respect the heck out of him, don't get me wrong. I was just bringing it up as a discussion point
When Hoka got their first one, somebody made the joke "carbon plate wars have started." i just thought this was the second salvo.
ETA: i will say that nike itself is dirty AF with a lot of things they do (Oregon Project doping, recruiting tactics, etc.)

Someone in the comments called out his grammar
Also, protos made another post screen shotting an article about custom shoes Asics made for Ryan. Awkwarddd.

If you’ve ever heard Ryan talk, he’s not the brightest tool in the shed.
Not knocking the guy. He’s super charitable and adopted 3 or 4 girls... but

There’s a huge different in a plate and 3 plates stacked with cushion.
I mean at the end of the day, competition creates innovation and that’s what we all should hope for. Nike has the big dick when it comes to R&D, so I applaud them swinging it. But mind you, their entire project Oregon just went down for doping. Making a new shoe is nowhere in that vain. There’s no rule against it until somebody makes one.
Irregardless there’s no way that shoe is going to make it into the Olympics.

In Houston and hit up the Nike Outlet again. Got another pair of Zoom Fly Flyknits a half size bigger as a race shoe and a pair of Pegasus 35 Turbo’s. Did 8 miles today and had to change out of the Turbo’s and into my Epic React’s, was really not a fan of the 35 Turbo’s and my paces supported that.

Righteous. Picked up some forever floatride energy from Reebok for like 50 bucks. Everybody seems to love them that have tried them. Same stuff as boost. I might be a Reebok guy here pretty soon, especially since I might start testing for them. I hope they send me the next gen runfast.

I got the Reebok Floatrides deal too. Too good to pass up.

Just picked up a pair of Hoka Rincons a few minutes ago, hoooooooly shite the cushion and they are so light.

In my defense that was autocorrect.

Reebok Forever Floatride Energy
Went for a 4 mile run right out of the box this evening. Moderate pace for the first 3 miles then speed mile for the last.
The foam is responsive enough. Not great, but not soft either. The upper concerns me with durability. The lip just seems like it will tear relatively easy.
Shoe is light enough. Decent heel support that I feel that I could take these on a flat trail course (unlike the Vaporflys in which I feel like I’ll roll an ankle anytime I get off even surfaces).
I have a hotspot on my right foot on the inside that also concerns me that was really prominent when I was walking around right out of the box. It went away on the moderate paced miles but flared up again on the fast mile. I’ll assume this is more due to not being broken in at the time.
Overall I like them though. Seems like a fast shoe.
