I have plantars Facia bad and am using New Balance 1540 v 2 for treadmill runs. They have helped immensely but are hard to jog/run in with other issues.
Any suggestions? Over Pronation !

My suggestion which is based on what I’ve heard from friends in a similar way as you is to try the Hoka One One Gaviota.
It’ll be a softer, lighter, bouncier, shoe than your current shoe. I think it’ll be a lot more flexible too. It is a maximalist type stability shoe which is what I think your looking for. Honestly though, the science behind the motion control and stability shoes is still kinda bunk. With that in mind, try out the Hoka One One Bondi as well, big cushion and very light.
You should be able to find these at Rush in NWA, Go in LR, or Fleet Feet in Little Rock.
Prepare your wallet. Advice to live by Rev, never skimp on luggage or shoes. Happy running, baw.

This.
Get a second opinion from a PT, the shoe stores seemingly tend to fit everyone into stability shoes. Agree with you on more stack heigh and cushion also maybe a lower drop...also recommend getting a foot log roller and rolling out your feet. I personally don’t have plantar fascia issues, but I know Seth DeMoor did and he swears by the foot log roller.

Over the last 10-15 years I've run with Vibram FiveFingers and Merrell Vapor Gloves and even barefoot for a time, fast and light shoes like the Kinarva, and then swung the other way to stability and control shoes. I am trending away from stability shoes at the moment, and running in some stripped down $30 Saucony Cohesions until I find something else I like. The Cohesions do remarkably well for the price, though I am only running 4-7 miles at a time in them.

I have a pair of the Merrell Vapor Gloves that I have been running in for the last mile or so of my EZ runs. I love them. After this training cycle, I think I am going to start running a little farther in them and maybe eventually do all of my shorter easier runs in them.

I had a completely different experience than you.
My initial reaction was wow and I had a smile on my face the entire time I was in them. For me, this is the perfect training shoe. Definitely not a racing shoe but I don’t think it claims to be.
The foam felt like a more stable Boost or a slightly firmer EGO. Still had some give and bounce though. The upper does fit kind of weird and that worried me but no hot spots developed.
For what it’s worth, I have a narrow foot with high arches. Good shoe.

Oh I still liked them. I’m taking them for an 8 miler in the morning. We shall see if the hot spot shows up.

I have a pair of cohesions I keep in the car for travel. They are the best $30 I’ve ever seen.
On the stability, my wife had reconstructive surgery on both feet and is a major over pronater still.
We tried to buy stability specific shoes but she didn’t feel they helped. We bought a really nice pair of inserts custom made for her and she just moves those between her tennis court shoes and her workout shoes and that has been all she needed.

The Reebok Floatride Run Fast is in the mail. I can’t wait for this shoe to arrive. Like I’ve said previously, it’s got the same type of foam as the Next but without the plate and way lower stack height.
As for the Floatride Energy, I confirmed that it is Boost but the TPU pellets are smaller which makes it a little firmer and responsive.
Hell of a one, two punch in my opinion. Reebok might be making a hell of a comeback.

Is an amazing shoe. I did a quick progression and knocked out a 17:45 5K during like it wasn't no thing.
Only downside I can see is that the tongue isn't great. Some folks are going to have some problem with the tread because it's "too grippy" but it doesn't get in the way. Near perfect shoe and a great Next% alternative.

If anyone wants some Nike Zoom Fly Flyknit’s for cheap, let me know. Clearing out some clutter and have some light gray/orange swoosh Zoom Fly FK’s I want to get rid of - size 8.5, about 25 miles on them. They were just a tad too small for me.
ETA: sold ‘em

New shoe alert: Nike Infinity Run
Available January 16th
Available January 16th
quote:
The Infinity Run provides a soft, responsive platform and delivers it with a widened midsole. Similar to the geometry of the 4%, the Infinity has a rocker-like bottom that yields a more fluid transition from foot strike to toe off.
This inspired combination has an instant impact on a runner. Slip the shoe on, and it feels at once stable and energetic, the spring in the React foam ready to fuel miles. The Infinity’s rocker-geometry encourages a slight lean forward, moving a runner’s foot strike from heel to midfoot, or even forefoot; this creates a natural forward feel of propulsion. The wider platform, and the supportive foam that accompanies it, provides a reassuring feel — the shoe gently guides the foot in a smooth, straight line, reducing side-to-side wobbling and movement.
quote:
an external study by the British Columbia Sports Medicine Research Foundation (BCSMRF) on 226 runners in the Nike React Infinity Run and the Nike Structure 22, a traditional motion control shoe, showed that runners in the Nike React Infinity had a 52 percent lower injury rate than in the motion control shoe, with wearers confirming that they felt less pain in their knees and feet.

Just FYI: seeing New Balance FuelCell Propel on sale for under $60 on Amazon. Seems like most sizes offer at least one color way at $60 or less. I’m really tempted but honestly don’t need another pair of shoes and trying to save a bit for a Forerunner 245.

I finally got a pair of Nike clown shoes. I will be racing in the Next, reluctantly. I figured I tell y’all before you found out on my Strava. Halfs and up only though.

This thread reminded me that I was watching “the world according to Jeff Goldblum” on Disney plus and they had an episode on sneakers.
For a brief segment, Jeff went to the adidas sports lab and they did some cool stuff (in an awkward Jeff Goldblum way) in regard to how they figure out shoes and for. The whole thing was fairly cheesy but I liked that part.
