think there is an airport in Ohio. Use some of your new disposable income on flights if you don’t want to miss anything. For less than $4k/yr, you could fly home every month
How can I do this? Does a certain airline offer this? I’ll be living just outside of Cleveland. Like some of you said I am expecting a brutal winter. Will definitely take some getting used to.

Congrats and you'll be enlightened at the world outside of LA.
Experience everything

Just look at the statistics for every major category vs other states.
It will reduce the anxiety.

Yes, Louisiana can be a shite hole but it is my home.
Like you said, it can be a shite hole and does have it's share of problems, but home is home, however; being single, no kids and in your late 20s. There isn't a better time for you to leave. Like anything else new, it's always a little bumpy. New place, new faces and having a little homesickness.
But you are in position to settle in to your liking, being single will give your more opportunity to get out and meet new people..
The only bad thing is.. It's Ohio..
I am joking, I never been to Ohio, but they can have those fricking cold arse winters.

Always thought growing up that I wanted to live somewhere else. Until I actually went and lived somewhere else.
Everywhere else sucks. The people aren't as friendly. The food isn't as good. There isn't nearly as much to do as far as celebrations and festivals. And fishing isn't as good. And in most places, the housing stock is shite( nothing of any architectural significance, just track housing, mcmansions and strip malls as far as the eye can see). Louisiana also has by far the lowest average property tax rate. You know, the one tax you can never get out from under. And if you want to start a business, there's very little competition in any markets here, so the opportunities are wide and deep.
On the plus side, everywhere else, everything works like it's supposed to.
Everywhere else has better schools, better roads, functioning government, more and higher paying jobs and better shopping, product availability and selection.
So it really comes down to your priorities. If you have a low tolerance for bullshite, money is the most important thing in your life and you're a Shopaholic, then you'll probably love a place like Houston, Pittsburgh or Sacramento.
On the other hand, if you love to live life to its fullest, can laugh off people's bullshite without it getting under your skin, drive a pickup truck or own a suspension repair shop and friends and family are the most important thing in your life, then stay in Louisiana

Also try to get involved in hobbies/activities that will help you to meet new people so you can have a group of friends in Ohio. And possibly meet women that share the same interests as you.
Meetup.com is a great site/app to use for that. They have meetups for every type of hobby or interest imaginable. The group of girlfriends I hang out with all the time...met at a meetup group.

Well I guess I’ll offer a slightly different opinion. I was in a very similar situation. Lived in BR all the way through college. Moved to Durham, NC for a year after college. It was very nice and the Raleigh area is awesome for young professionals. I just found myself missing home and almost all of my family so I moved back. That was several years ago and I’m married now but no kids yet. I’m prepared to pay for private school if I must
The thing I’ve learned is, happiness is a state of mind and it comes from within. There’s always gonna be somewhere else that’s “better.” It’s just a matter of what you prefer and what you decide is important to you. I chose worse schools, roads, government corruption, and hot arse summers for family and friends. I enjoy it here. That may not always be the case but probably so while I have family here
You’ll make the right decision no matter what. Don’t second guess yourself and enjoy the journey

How important are your friends and family? Chasing a job/money doesn’t always equal happiness. There’s a balance there. I recently moved from South LA to Houston. I miss home everyday, and if i could live in the marsh and hunt/fish with friends like i used to, that’s all i really cared about and that’s what made me happy. It’s a hard transition to make new friends, find places to meet decent people, but if you’re motivated, it can definitely be done. You can always come back if you don’t like it there. I don’t blame anybody for wanting better for themselves. Let’s be honest, Louisiana finishes last in just about every category, but it was the people and culture that really stuck with me. Good luck

Moving to DC was one of the best decisions I ever made.

I know the feeling. I was anxious when I moved away from home as well.
It will be an adjustment, and the first few months might be tough.
My advice is to throw yourself into your work and find an extracurricular activity that forces you to be social and meet people. The faster you make some friends the better.
I’ve been gone 5-6 years and am happy to have made the move. Still love home but have no desire to move back.
And just remember that just because you’re moving doesn’t mean you can’t go back one day if you want to. LA isn’t going anywhere. Well...except under water.

The beautiful thing is now you get to be "the Louisiana Guy". It's kinda fun and a nice way to stay connected to home.

It's good unless you took a job under Urban Meyer at Ohio St.

Leave and never come back. This will be the best decision you’ve ever made.

The Cleveland MetroPark system is pretty nice. That's about all I got though.

Dude you will look back in a year and say leaving LA was the best move you’ve ever made.
Might be hard in the beginning but power through.
I left LA after high school only to returm to go to Tulane. Immediately left again. Never looked back.
