There’s so much opportunity outside of Louisiana. Take full advantage of it.

Sounds like you’re already doing that.

Moving was a great decision for me.

When I was actually interviewing for my job up there I went out to dinner with some coworkers I had worked with previously. None of them has ever even met anyone from Louisiana before. I go from being excited at the thought of this new journey to being anxious at the thought of not knowing a single person outside of a few co workers twice my age married with kids

If you had a shitty adolescence/developmental period you will associate those traumatic and angry feelings with where you grew up and to some degree blame the place for the situation. This is true everywhere and with a whoooole lotta people. For example, I've met people who could not wait to get out of some of the most affluent areas in southern California.

Ignore the shitbirds. Cleveland has some nice suburbs and you'll enjoy actually having four seasons.

But if you miss home, move home.

I moved to Colorado with $1000 dollars in my pocket. I moved to a village in Japan with 20k people where I was the only gaijin there . I thrive where I am . And you will too IF you don’t constantly compare what you are confronted with in the new place with what you had in the old place. Go into the world with the heart of a student who wants to learn, say yes to new experiences, be grateful for your blessings and sincerely connect with the people around you. Your path is supposed to have some curves, it’s not meant to be a straight line. If it doesn’t, you probably did life wrong.

Do you really want to get into the habit of flying home that often?

It just seems like it would get to the point where that is your end game every month and it will make it more difficult adapt.

Not sure what that part of Ohio is like, but leave this shithole and never look back.

Son, your life is about to improve. Seriously.

Not that Ohio is all that great, but you have broken the seal of opportunity with yourself.

Kudos!!!

Focus on this feeling. This is a great opportunity for you. Sounds like it is a great move for your career as well. Think of it as an opportunity to totally reinvent yourself. You are young and single...perfect time to try on a different life.

Look at it this way...if you end up hating it there...you can always move back. And your job experience might help you get better jobs if you did return to LA.

Seriously, that's pretty awesome especially moving to a village in Japan. You probably can't put a price tag on that type of experience.

Southern La and NE Ohio will be a big change.

You’ll find plenty of good people. Expect bland food though and a pretty dull culture overall. Hope you know how to cook if you like Louisiana cuisine because you won’t find it up there. They don’t know what seasoning is

You’re a two hour flight away and a time zone over. If you’re making enough money, you’ll be able to visit frequently. You’re single in your late twenties. See the world before you have a nagging wife and a kid to feed.

I would think it would be more anxiety entering the state of Louisiana.

There isn’t a prepaid ticket package. I assumed ~$300 r/t tickets. I’m not saying catching a flight home every month is the way to transition, but it helps to know you aren’t cut off from everything you know. Learn to play the credit card points game and you won’t have to come out of pocket as much.
