Honestly if you aren't smart enough to check the weather on your phone before heading to the course, that's not a problem with where you live that's a problem with you.

Moved away for work after college. It was a growing and learning experience, and wouldn't take it back. I eventually moved back though, to be closer to family and friends. You eventually find out what is important to you and go for that, but it's different for everyone. Don't chicken out, go through with it or you'll regret that you didn't go. You never know, you might find Mrs. Banger up there.

Give it 2 years and you will never move back. It took 3 trips home before the roads and general ignorance became too obvious to ignore. You can’t unsee it once you realize the difference.

This pisses the "homers" off but it's so true.

It's 100% true but what I do for fun doesn't need great roads or a smarter general populace. I spend time time with my family and friends that I love dearly. Moving away may be great for some people but not for me. Everybody is different and that's cool.

Always thought growing up that I wanted to live somewhere else. Until I actually went and lived somewhere else.

Everywhere else sucks. The people aren't as friendly. The food isn't as good. There isn't nearly as much to do as far as celebrations and festivals. And fishing isn't as good. And in most places, the housing stock is shite( nothing of any architectural significance, just track housing, mcmansions and strip malls as far as the eye can see). Louisiana also has by far the lowest average property tax rate. You know, the one tax you can never get out from under. And if you want to start a business, there's very little competition in any markets here, so the opportunities are wide and deep.

On the plus side, everywhere else, everything works like it's supposed to.

Everywhere else has better schools, better roads, functioning government, more and higher paying jobs and better shopping, product availability and selection.

So it really comes down to your priorities. If you have a low tolerance for bullshite, money is the most important thing in your life and you're a Shopaholic, then you'll probably love a place like Houston, Pittsburgh or Sacramento.

On the other hand, if you love to live life to its fullest, can laugh off people's bullshite without it getting under your skin, drive a pickup truck or own a suspension repair shop and friends and family are the most important thing in your life, then stay in Louisiana

i found the people from Nola are the ones who are flabbergasted people want to live different life styles as them.

well if home is Venice, the fishing capital of the world, then there isnt really anything better in terms of the broad spectrum of fishing you can do. But lets be honest. People arent "from" Venice.

And people from Nola are the weekend warrior city boyz where the lures catch more of them than fish.

Have you read any of this thread? It’s almost entirely comprised of people shitting on Louisiana or LA residents saying they choose to remain because of family & friends.

I enjoy reading the post about how awesome this young mans life is going to be in ohio.

There are way too many factors that go into something like this.

He is going from the #42 quality of life state to the #40.

Huge step up. lol Louisiana has its share of problems but its not like he is headed to paradise

Hopefully it works out for the guy but lets keep the bullshite to a minimum

yes maybe so, however, but being from the south, and I'm sure an accent to some degree, a decent job, and is at least moderate looking, will be able to cherry pick the hot ones with relative ease unless op has absolutely zero game.

Just like alot of that 42 in louisiana is kenner

It goes both ways.

Like the guy earlier said, its all localized. Where i live the economy is booming and the schools are pretty damn good.

no a lot of that 42 is NOLA east and the wank and Kenner and NBR and Monroe, and ceder grove, and jewella, and pine road, and lockport, Golden Medda.

Cook your own food, you can flavor it like you wabpnt. Problem solved

The best part about moving away is you can always move back, for the most part fairly painlessly.

Give it a shot, you will be a better person for it, even if you move back.

I might be moving soon as well, to Denver. Thankfully, I have a bunch of Louisiana ex-pats living there from my home town to help me through the transition.
