A University of Georgia student and two Alabama friends launched a nonprofit organization earlier this year to promote the concept, The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reported .

Supporters of a proposed new interstate that would connect communities in five southern states say it would reduce poverty and improve the lives of residents along the route.

It would run from Interstate 10 in west Texas through the Killeen and College Station areas and cross through central Louisiana in the Alexandria area. In Mississippi, it would run through the Natchez, Laurel and Meridian areas. In Alabama, the conceptual route includes the communities of Selma, Montgomery and Phenix City. In Georgia, it would connect Columbus with Macon and Augusta.

Lol no thanks

Does this go to Germany?

Just kidding. I would like to see I-14 built, but I'd rather see a north-south freeway connecting New Orleans to Kansas City through Baton Rouge, Natchez, Monroe, Little Rock, and Springfield.

I would like to see I-49 connect Lafayette to NOLA. It took forever for I-49 from Shreveport to Arkansas to be completed.

Why not?

And this isn't, not sure why the business report found the need to talk about it yesterday. They have been talking about this for at least the last 10 years, in an effort to connect forts and bases.

They put this in the article like these two jerk offs came up with the idea. I-14’s been proposed since 2005.

With all those forts being connected prepare to see a lot of Panzers and Leichttraktors on it.

Imagine dealing with NIMBY’s from 5 states at once.

This thing would be massively expensive and not finished while any of us are still alive.

This is a terrible idea.
Improving portions of 10, 12 and 20 with either widening, loops, larger bridges and better surfaces would be far more beneficial and cost a fraction of building and maintaining an entirely new interstate.

Ah yes the military superhighway. Maybe the pentagon can pay for it. If we quit acting like the world police and brought most of our troops home, the savings could probably pay for this in a year or two.

I'm not opposed to this idea but we have much more pressing highway needs in LA.

If they want to build it as a toll road, knock themselves out.

Still looks a little too far North to unload I-10 too much. Unless a good chunk of the freight traffic is Atlanta to/from Houston, in that case US69 to I-14 looks shorter than US69 to I-10/I-12 through Baton Rouge and up I-59.

I think this would be freakin great. I 10 is so crowded as it is and this would allow much of the traffic that goes through BR to cross the state through Alexandria. I know there is some revenue that would be lost in Hotels and Gas along that route but it would lighted the load on a very congested Interstate and that just in Louisiana, the same can be said for Ga
