Transgender and mental illness

How is it that people who are transgender(or any other gender besides being born male or female) not considered to have a mental illness?
We live in a country that throws around the phrase "mental illness" or "mental disorder" and label people as such like its nothing, imo as an excuse to get away with acting out in certain ways, yet support and encourage those who think they are literally something they are physically not, whether its trans or whatever other genders there are now.

If you deny reality, you used to be sent to an asylum. Now they give you a tv show if you chop your tits off and take a bunch of unnatural hormones.

Because there may be a genetic /brain structure component we don’t understand . Not to say that mental illness is not also present in many or most. It’s a pretty tough draw if you think about it.

Medically, it is considered a form of dysphoria. Social movements have led more towards acceptance rather than promoting treatment. What's interesting is that suicide rates actually increase for individuals who seek so-called gender reassignment.

I question the mental fitness of anyone arguing that it is not.
I also don't think it is coincidence that so many on the left are pushing the idea that this is normal behavior.
Yeah, I know- Political Board. But they have most certainly turned this into a political issue. So mentioning that is relevant here, I believe.

So what would it be called if you were born a male with a penis but you wanted to be a female. But then you were not sexually attracted to men or women but rather you wanted to have sex with toasters and cars and candles and Barbie dolls ?

I do think part of the multi-gender and multi-sexuality revolution has to do with recent trends and the desire social acceptance.
Like, these days that stuff is out in the open and talked about online in the news and social media so much, that kids want to be "different" from the traditional norms so that they will be more accepted by their peers.

AND...they want everyone to "accept them for who they are"....when THEY couldn't "accept THEMSELVES" for who THEY are....WTF??

Obviously there is a mental illness. That is not even debateable. To make tax payers pay for it is a different story. If I want pretend delts or calves or whatever then I should be expected to pay for it. If Mr. Bruce wants his dick cut off then I am not sure why society should pay for that procedure or the rehab costs.

This is my thought on it. No one just wakes up and says "I want to be a man" or "I want to be a woman". To go to the degree a transgender person does, it has to be more about how they feel and who they are.
Since it is something we can't really see, it is hard for us to understand, but if someone develops as one sex physically and another sex mentally. Is that really mental illness?

Great, so every guy that says he wants to wear a dress can get a "crazy check"?
I think they wanted to not give people easy access to mental benefits. See what happened with emotional support animals vs seeing eye dogs? Same thing, "mental illness" vs "mental" Illness.
