Thanks for the motivation OPB. I just got back from 8 miles. Finishing temp is 23 sunny degrees with almost no difference with windchill. It does feel good to complete the month with 100 miles. Total miles for January 2020 was 68 miles, so this is a quality improvement for 2021.

Nope, been fortunate in that regard. Could be your socks?

Much better feeling than 8 miles short.

Rick, get your mind right and get back at it buddy. Best thing that happened to me was taking three weeks for my foot after my shitty virtual. Then I took another week for Christmas break before starting the new year fresh. I'll also say that working from home is a true blessing for motivation. I don't have to wake up at 4am every day and I can use an hour at lunch to get some miles in. Weekend runs are much more enjoyable now when I get more sleep during the week. I'm now getting an extra 10-12 hrs/week of sleep and it's great.
Ended January with 120 miles. A little lower than I thought but feel stronger and getting ready for an actual race in March.

Did a 5 x 5k trail race over the weekend. Man it was hard but fun. stayed consistent through the first 4 and the last mile of the 5th hit me like a rock. It's a great format for a race.
Considering I haven't done any long runs in two months, I'm pleased except for when your training buddy finished ahead of me by a minute overall.

I finished January with 129 miles, WAAAY more than I have for many moons. My 8 miler Sunday was rough though. I had pushed hard in a 6 miler Saturday, and my achilles tendons were howling in protest Sunday. I wanted to do a relaxing 10, but ended up with a painful 8. Taking today off seems to have helped. I plan to log something closer to 100 in February and work in some cross training.

I registered for the Q50 "Trail Extravaganza" 10 miler today at Bogue Chitto park this Saturday. I intended on doing the 13 miler (1 loop) but it's sold out. I didn't look at the packet pick up/race times until today, after I registered (last night). It looks like packet pick up is from 5-5:40 and the 10 miler doesn't start until 9:00. Not sure I am gonna drive 2 hours to be there for 5-5:40, then wait around another 3 hours for a 10 mile race. I sent them a message for clarification on packet pick up times, etc. I'll see what they say, but it may be a sunk $70.

I want to do that race someday. You'd think since you are registered that you could pick up your number right before the race.

Yeah they sent out an email tonight with updated packet pick up times. 8:00-8:30 for my race, which is what I was thinking. Looks like it may be pretty muddy with rain Fri/Sat. Love running trails but honestly not a huge fan of mud/muck. I’m sure the trail purists will frown on that but oh well, not really what I enjoy, shuffling through mud. Read on AllTrails that some spots could be knee deep. That’s not what I consider running.

Yep that is almost a niche event. May as well make you climb over logs and stuff too and be done with it.

welp, my forerunner 945 battery is dying. garmin is sending me a replacement, but it's disconcerting. had the watch just over a year. have a 7 week window to get ready for a 50 miler in march, so the new watch is certainly gonna be put through the paces.

which 50 miler you running? I'm on the hunt for one.

You guys don’t tell me that. I’m attempting the 52 miler on Saturday. I’m not a huge trail runner and I have tried to get ready. I do not like hearing knee deep.

Lake Martin in Alabama. They also have a 27 and 100 options.
