I focused too heavily on weights this winter. I'm out of shape.

Just did a short lunch run and was struggling to keep a decent pace.

Need to start doing more lunch runs.

Knocked out an easy pace (8:17) 10 miler this morning. Felt good getting out of my neighborhood since my runs have kinda been on autopilot with the same route lately. Looking like our Red River 10k on mar 13 will be a full go so pretty excited about that. I shaved my head clean today so maybe I'll be more aerodynamic and knock a few seconds from my pace

Back in November, I was hoping to use this race to PR now I’m hoping I can just complete the distance

I don't see how so many of you do lunch runs. If I don't run at 6am, it doesn't happen. Perhaps if I worked from home more.

Kids are awake at 6 at my house. If I’m not out the door by 5, I have to wait until I can take a break from work, usually around 11 or 12 when meetings stop.

I started working out at lunch back in August and really enjoy it.

I don’t have to wake up 5 am. And I just can’t consistently workout in the evenings anymore with all the family obligations.

Lunch has been a perfect time for me.

Took 3rd in the Q50 10 Miler today. Sloppy, but loved every minute of it.

Nice. Love a good sloppy trail race.

I need to find a race for motivation.

I can only do it on weekends now due to work, but midday runs are great. There is something almost taboo about it. A shirtless 11am run in mid summer when it's already 90+ in temp is euphoric. You guys can keep the cold weather running. I've pretty much reduced my efforts down to 1-2 runs a week until it warms back up.

3 miles shirtless in the August heat then straight into a bathtub filled with cold water.

Beats the hell out of having to warm my hands up for 10 minutes so my fingers gain enough dexterity to use the key in the door.

Ran my first 10k today(longest I’ve ever ran) in 55 minutes. I’m really working on endurance more than speed at this point. I feel I’m on track for a half marathon in May(my goal). I’ve been setting small goals for myself so I ordered a Garmin 245 music today as this was one of my milestones. My body and energy levels feel so much better since I started running last month.

Was considering signing up for the Rocky Raccoon half a few weeks ago since two of the people I train with weekly are doing it. It's just hard to commit to races out of the area during HS baseball season.

With that said, I'm glad I have baseball as a backbone now given the imminent forecast. I now have 3 games over a 24 hour period this weekend, which are much easier to bundle up for (none of which involve a major winter weather travel commitment).

So we gonna talk about running this weekend and into next? I’ve already sent my coach a request to shift days around for next week. Monday and Tuesday look to be painful running days especially if we get ice. I foresee an extra rest day in my future.

Luckily I'm not training for anything particular, so I'm not sweating it too much. I'll hit the treadmill if I see an opening to get some miles in and the weather is shite.

Also got an update that my NordicTrac X32i has shipped, so I'm making some room in my shop, etc which will cut into my running time while I move everything around how I want it.

I'm just looking at the big picture at the moment (being ready for Fall), since I'll be on the bench for the most part due to work from mid March-June. My hope is I'll have my treadmill set up and ready to go by then, so that I can maintain some semblance of running. I'll probably be walking/climbing 40K steps a day at work, so my fitness overall shouldn't take a big dump.

I'm definitely going to try to get a run in the snow on Monday.

We only get a few chances at that every few years.

But I guess south LA is going to get mostly ice, so yeah...I'd stay away from that

I'll be on the dreadmill or bike trainer next week

Might do a novelty run in the snow.

I went to Montreal a few years back in December. Woke up one morning before work to experience a snow run. The night before had dropped 2-3" and when I got up at 6 it was still a light snow. I just remember having fun for a few miles. I'm sure I was cold, but it wasn't on my mind.

Fast forward to Texas in Jan/Feb a couple months later. We had a closed office day due to a hard freeze and ice everywhere. I went for a run, fell about 5 times. It sucked. I was cold, wet, and hurt.
