I run in tights in just about any weather under 60 degrees. Most are light, but I have thermal tights for under 45 degrees or so. Besides the fact that it's conducive to fast times, I hate the damn cold. I would rather run in only shorts in 90 degree heat.

Yeah bought a few pairs of tights for the Winter and I've actually not minded wearing them at all (was very skeptical, I'm not big on tight clothes, underwear, etc.). In previous years I would have just not ran if it was too cold for shorts.
Agreed on the no shorts over them.
Dare I say I feel faster in them?

i wear tight pants (not tights, they have pockets) if it's under 40 usually.
i found a bunch of asics for about $10 a few years ago and have had them ever since. the medium doesn't leave much to the imagination up front, so i only wear those if i'm not going to see anybody running.

I wear a long sleeve shirt under 50 degrees, and tights under 40 degrees. I have problems with calf pulls so run with compression calf sleeves in the winter unless I am wearing tights. The tights are not quite the skin tight type I wore in HS, but still tight enough embarrass my teenage kids.

Anyone else use calf sleeves? I thought about trying them as I had some pretty sore calves immediately after my 20+ mile runs

I’d be interested to hear. My right calf has been giving me some pain here and there. Ankle was getting a little tender weeks back so I wore a sleeve for a while and it got better. Debating on whether I wanna get one for the calf or not. I see conflicting reports on efficacy online.

I have calf sleeves I use to use after runs and I have compression socks that go up over my knee that I bought for a flight a few hours after my ironman. Didn't hurt anything, but doubt they helped. During the run itself, it would annoy me.

I wear compression calf socks for anything over 18ish miles
Not sure if they help

I wear calf compression sleeves anything over 4 miles... But I'm fat.

I used to get calf strains quite often in the winter. Wearing calf sleeves was just one of the changes I made to combat that, but they seem to have helped. I almost never get a calf pull now.
Anyone run with their dog? I used to run a lot more with mine when he was younger. He'd go as far as 8 miles at about 9 minute pace, though it takes him a few miles to warm up, talk a dump, smell everything he can, etc... Today I wanted an easy 4 so I ran with him. He's 12 years old now and likes the idea of going with me better than the actual run, but he did ok on the way back.

I’ve taken mine, but he interferes with getting a quality run in. Always trying to stop and smell everything

Same. I'll take mine on easier runs but not when trying to hit a pace

Yea I don't run with mine these days unless it's an easy run. Sometimes though I have to sneak out the door, because if he hears me he will whine the whole time I'm gone because he didn't get to go with me.

My dog is a basset hound.. Not really built for running.

i do every couple of weeks but it's not a quality run. they're both "good" runners at 5&6 years old, but if you take one, the other loses their shite and when they're together they're morons and don't run the same pace. my lab put down a sub 7:30 mile once. he was dragging me just about the whole time. he's steady but doesn't love long distance.
my coon hound is just a moron, but she loves to run.

Any of you guys have a go-to sock recommendation
I've been fortunate never to experience problems from any sock wear. But last April I wore a pair of Balega, holy crap I didn't know what I was missing. I almost took the shoes off and ran in socks.
I only wear tights if it's below 35 degrees.

SO I'm to the point where it looks like I will just have to go out and will myself through a marathon. I'm having trouble getting motivated to run over 12 miles. Luckily, I'm running with my wife so she will keep me motivated.
