Scheduling conflicts means I will have to wake up prior to 4:30 on Saturday or Sunday to get my long run in. I'm scared.

That sounds scary, when’s your race?

Is it your first?

Houston Marathon. Not my first, I just know how I'm going to feel during(around mile 18) and afterwards.

I do my best to stay in shape in case anybody ever asks to to a long run, bike, or swim.

Do any of y'all post on/read LetsRun? It's like this thread meets the OT with some of the poli board sprinkled in.

Got talked into a 5k next month btw. Time to get off my arse.

I read the forums on LR. It’s comic relief for sure.

Had to get my long run in today, as it’s not likely I’ll have time this weekend. Hit 15 miles around the LSU Lakes. Unexpectedly chilly.

TRoots, that's a strong run. When's your next race?

Thanks, HR Monitor went out around mile 10 and I know my last mile was quicker than 9:21 (watch has been glitchy, ah well).

Nothing on the books yet but planning on a 15K in Feb and the CCC 10K in April. Everything else will be a game time decision. I will probably do something at the La Marathon in January. Either the 5K and Quarter on Sat or the Half on Sun.

Just trying to get around 25-30 mpw now with consistent speed work and long runs.

9.5 progressive run. Got a long one tomorrow and I may cut it short. I’m pretty beat up and that trail race really fricked up my left knee from the fall.

I guess I’m gonna taper starting next week for the half in Springfield on the 29th then it’s reset time.

Starting January for 2-3 weeks, I’m going to bring it down to 4 days a week 3 30-45 minute runs and one 60-70 minute run. Looking to be refreshed for February.

How often do you do this? I'm thinking I may need to do something similar. Maybe in between the La Marathon 1/2 on 1/20 and the Mardi Gras Mambo 15K on 2/20.

This will be my first time in a year. So the first since I started back.

Back in the day we'd do something similar for a month after cross country and another month after track season with 2 days cross training and one day completely off per week.

Good run today man.

Had a not fast, but good trail run in the wind. Did some decent climbing today and found the top of the park that I normally run and had never seen.

Thanks you too. Looks real nice out there. Hell of a lot better than the white trash rush hour I was dealing with this morning.

I stay away from roads unless I’m in some particular neighborhoods. If you look at most of my runs you’ll see they’re dirt trails or concrete trails/sidewalks away from roads.

Temple has done a good job, for the size of town we are, investing in sidewalks and trail systems.

Just reviewed the Zoom Fly on tOfficial running shoe thread. Next up will be the Skechers Go Run 6 soon.

Gonna be a hell of a nice day so it's time to get those runs going.

I'm listening to David Goggins book on audible right now. Goggins will get you hurt, Haha. Dude ran 101 miles in a 24 hour race after not running more than a mile in like a year. Never ran more than a marathon in his life before that. And didn't even know about the race until 3 days before. Then a few weeks later expects walk the LV marathon with his mom because his legs were thrashed, but when the gun goes off, he says F it and BQ's.

I’ve been a fan of Goggins for a while now. I’m halfway through his book and having a hard time putting it down. Guy is an animal.

Sugar Land/Mo City area has the Snowdrop 55 leading up to New Year's. See how many miles you can run in 55 hours. I met a guy who had never as much as run a 5k and he signed up for it. I will just go ahead and say he's not a normal fellow. He ran 36 miles in a day. Next year came back and ran 136. This year shooting for 150.

3 easy miles this morning. First run since the marathon. Felt good until...

My neighbor’s American staffordshire terrier chased me off the street and into someone’s yard, snarling and barking about 1 foot off my arm. I really thought I was about to get mauled. The owner was right there and did nothing. Just said “no!” to the dog when it ran back.

I’m about to write a letter to put into their mailbox. Still debating calling animal control on Monday. The dog is always in their yard unleashed and almost always charges you when walking by. It has always turned around right as it got to the end of their yard so I assumed it was on a shock collar. Apparently not because it got to me today.
