Why did Solo receive so little acclaim?

I saw it twice and would have been willing to see it a third time. I thought the new actor for Han Solo did as good of a job as he could of emulating Harrison Ford. It was intense, but it also had plenty of comic relief, just like all Star Wars movies do. It also had the token hot chick with a British accent.

Never had a chance after the TLJ backlash.

It’s a shame, because I thought it was a blast.

The standalones have been really good. Those are the ones I’d rather see at this point.

The actor didn’t really look like him, and I felt like a lot of the action was forced and unnecessary. We still barely know anything about Han’s family. I just felt like it was missing other classic Star Wars elements.

Idk why people take that angry dismissive attitude. This film needed to be boycotted to express disapproval. If you want to evoke change it needed to happen here. Both because this was an opportunity to head internal headlines of losing money due to the exploded budget and because if you waited for episode 9 they would have found reasons to deflect from the real one.

Hell, as it is, they tried to attribute it in the media as SW fatigue.

But at the end of the day, the “TLJ crybabies” got exactly what they wanted: for them to take a step back and review what’s happening to the franchise.

And if it had that profound of an impact..,,it’s obviously not limited to hate echo chambers like here.

BTW, I saw it, liked it, and nonetheless gleeful about the missed projections.

Whatever. Solo was garbage. Some of the people on this board have such poor taste in movies it's actually funny. The same people that laugh like donkeys at shite like Scary Movie, or pre-order tickets to Fast and Furious.

its everything that asked for in a standalone movie

Pathetic.

1. Some of it was pretty funny when it was new.

2. Some people pre-order tickets because AMC theaters have reserved seating. Going see popcorn movies like Fast and Furious in a Dolby or IMAX theater with your friends is a lot of fun. Sorry you're a pathetic loser who doesn't get those experiences.

I boycotted it solely because of TLJ. I also want Kathleen Kennedy and Rian Johnson gone. I did it because I care about the franchise and it’s trajectory with SJW and nothing but “Dexter Jettster: A Star Wars Story”, it has to change. I’ll catch it on Netflix.

Any empirical data on that or is this just conjecture?

I loved it and it was worth seeing in a Dolby theater.

I have a large family and my wife and I and our two oldest kids are huge Star Wars fans. After TLJ I just didn’t have it in me to get a babysitter and go out of my way to get us there to see it. By the time I did it was already gone from our local theater. I hear good things, I’ll get it the first day it’s on on DVD, I may even buy it. I guess it was just a small act of orotest to tell them they need to right the ship.

I’ll see it as some point, but I’ll admit TLJ really impacted my current interest in Star Wars. It’s still too recent to me.

It’s not even the SJW or political crap that you hear about. I just genuinely believe I couldn’t enjoy a film about Han Solo knowing the whole Star Wars universe is going in the direction that TLJ laid out.

I just don’t care about the storyline or its characters anymore. Makes me sad.

I liked it alright but I don’t think Solo and especially Landon were great illnesses which is fine. The thing is, they weren’t nearly as charming or likable as their counterparts.

I thought Emilia Clark was one of the best things about the movie.
