Hell no. Whats the point of being a parent if you arent going to be your kids role models? Now should athletes set a good example of how you should act in society? Of course they should but I believe that everyone should act that way.

I think everyone should serve as a positive role model by being a decent human being. But celebs and athletes have way too much cred

The media gives athletes/celebs way too much of a platform and instant credibility to whatever message they want to spew. Just because you can catch or throw a ball or look good on tv doesn’t mean your political view or any other opinions should be noted as an educated thought. None of them owe anything to society. It’s the media that really needs to qualify someone’s background before posting it.

Hell no. And I find the people that idolize these people like they’re God’s terribly disturbing. In the end, they’re just human like you and I except they’re on camera and make more money than I do. No reason whatsoever to idolize these people.

With that said, I can see why kids look up to them, but after the age of 18 or so, it’s time to let go. You’re an adult. It’s time to grow up and learn that you’re an individual just like they are...

The only catch is most of this board supports athletes and celebs like crazy when they endorse trump.

It needs to go both ways. Just because I agree with a celebrity doesn’t mean he should be speaking on politics.

Nope.

It’s my job as a parent to educate my children in right and wrong.

I think regular human being treating celebrities/rich people like idols are a huge part of the problem in society today.

Like Barkley said, I get paid to play basketball and score points, I don't get paid to be a role model.

That being said, Charles probably is one of the more grounded celebrities / athletes out there.

Unfortunately, the fair answer is no. Mostly, because we should all be accountable for our own actions.

I DO BELIEVE that these types of individuals should be more COGNIZANT that their actions are more closely emulated and watched by impressionable younger fans.

There are many that conduct themselves with respect and dignity. I think there are more "good guys" than ones that show their arse.

No they have a talent that makes them famous, but that doesn't mean people have to emulate them or listen to their opinions.

If they want to use their fame in that way, great, but there is no obligation.

Agree. Cardi B has said publicly several times "stop letting your kids listen to me/follow me". For whatever reason, some people automatically assume that young women should be role models to kids.

Kinda like Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, etc. They catered to kids when they themselves were kids.. then they grew up and went through the same phase plenty of girls go through in their early 20s. Some parents got pissy, but I think it is absurd to expect a 20-something chick to appeal to 12 year olds.

No. But we as fans aren't morally obligated to support, cheer, and spend our money on athletes that we in turn don't like nor agree with.

I don't care what they do. They are like gladiators in the Roman days and should be treated as such. They are for my entertainment. I don't care if they take steroids, drugs, whatever, as long as they entertain me for my $. They no longer do that due to feminists and lawyers, so screw them all
