Look at how deep in this board's head this issue is. You guys claim to be smarter than the average citizen and more informed, and this singular issue is driving this board bananas. If you think it's not a winning issue, it wouldn't be occupying so much space in all of your heads.

Because they are crazy

This board would be able to recognize crazy.

Politically speaking, they played this hand too soon.

Makes you wonder what they’ll come up with closer to the election.

Yeah, I can't see a lot of people going to the polls in November to save the children from the cages. When you're this far out from the election the only hope is a fundraiser bump and I don't see people sending checks in to the DNC to save the Mexicans.

It's not a winning issue for them when their Grand High Witch (Schumer) says they won't take up an immigration bill because they want to keep the focus on Trump.

Who is hurting these kids exactly? The people enforcing the law, or the ones who refuse to fix it and would rather use those kids for political points?

An air of desperation helps turn a winnable situation or close loss into a total rout.

Once you start losing and desperately try to change the momentum, you throw conventional wisdom out the window in hopes of doing something, anything, to reverse the drop.

Going into this cycle I would have thought the Dems would make significant gains in the House and minimized their losses in the Senate just due to structural issues (PA redistricting, number of GOP Senate seats up).

Now that Trump’s policies are paying off and the various traps laid for him have failed, they’re throwing any shite they can think of at the wall to try and change the momentum.

The issues in question could normally do such a thing but they’re pushing so hard and so fast that they’re doing faceplants whenever their moves get countered.

The revelations that this issue, and the bad pictures associated with it, date back to Obama combined with Schmuck refusing to allow a fix be passed will end up turning this issue against them.

They are being successful in drawing attention away from the OIG report and the hearings.

This was their main goal and if they can capture some momentum in energizing their voting base then all the better.

One of the many problems with this issue is that it is purely emotional and such emotion cannot be sustained until November. Even the emotional outrage over school shootings tends to dissipate after a week or two.

Democrats are most definitely overplaying their hand, which isn't very good to start with.

The over-dramatization by the left is simply dirty pool and shows how weak they really are. The viewing public seems to be swallowing their story hook, line, and sinker. The public is being snookered by the left's sentimentalizing the issue. Is it as bad as they portray to be? The frequent use of the term "cages" shows you the sideshow nature of their narrative. Who decided to use that word anyway? How do you know if what they're saying is accurate without going down there and seeing it first hand? They have a vested interested in making it seem as bad as possible. It's a textbook example of being "argumentative" - that is to say, it can neither be proved or disproved. Looks like another Democrat parlor trick. The public - in general - is so naive.

They didn't realize how easy it would be to fix the problem.
Spend a few million dollars re-configuring partitions inside the holding facilities for families and create exterior holding areas for single men. Cost is off-set by taxes generated by from contractors performing the work, less payroll for chaperones for the children and they are all shipped back together.

Pretty much describes all of their political moves for the last 5 years.

I’ve maintained for awhile that they would be much more successful in implementing their commie agenda if they would slow play it rather than letting Americans see it for what it really is

They're going after the Muh Children issue because they've already burned their bridges with white votes, black voters are starting to wake up so all they have left now is to try to motivate the latinos to show up and vote for them.

Well they not only are overplaying their hand they have showed their cards way too early. Any sane rational person sees this for what it is a propaganda piece. The thing these corporate media types do not understand is that no longer have the influence and power they used to have and this is due to the internet. Holes have been poked in this narrative and aside from the SJWs and Bleeding Hearts no one really cares about this coordinated propaganda peice and will have no impact on the midterms.

the left always does this, contrived some issue that gets their base all frothy and they think they are making progress. Nobody who voted for Trump the first time gives a shite or they agree with him.

They overplay their hand every single time vs Trump and they keep getting a face full of orange nutsack.
