What sort of Uber driver do you prefer?

Ones that know where they're going and don't get in a wreck...

Like the one I got in BR at 3 AM selling coke

My favorite driver ever was old guy in New Orleans. We started talking baseball then he asked me to grab a picture from behind his seat. Apparently he played baseball for the Braves back in the day and was at spring training with Hank Aaron among others. Was one of the best conversations I've had in an Uber/Lyft.

At this point, one that can follow the directions on their own GPS and seem like they've been driving in Houston for more than a week.

I also prefer that they finish their self flagellation in their own home and not in their car just prior to picking me up. I blame Owlie for this one.

I prefer Americans who speak English and have driven in the city for more than a week.

Uber has been overtaken by the taxi driver crowd who don’t speak English and can’t navigate for shite.

Back in the day, Uber black used to not have multipliers on it.

Depending on the time, you could be picked up in a merc by a literal driver for cheaper than some kid in a prius.

My favorite were the young Arab guys in Houston. 100% professional. Wore a suit. It was clear it was all business.

Impressed more than a few people with that service.

Talkative when I'm really drunk late at night.

Absolute silence when I'm sober.

One who is professional with a clean car and doesn’t weird me out or try to make stupid small talk. AKA normal. Race doesn’t matter.

I’ve had some really interesting ones and some really rude ones. It really varies. I honestly like hearing the perspective of poorer folks trying to make it, like people who are out of a job and are trying to pay the bills. Jokes aside it gives you a sense of humility.
