Rank the following:
Entry level college grad
Enter level worker
Five year experience and degree
Five year experience as worker
20 years experience and degree
20 year experience no degree

Is there a point where the degree doesn’t matter? How many years is that?

I have floor workers with 25+ years that blow some of graduates out of the water, even the experienced ones.

I would rank being able to spell “experience” pretty high on the list too.

I hit “submit” instead of “preview” so I had to scramble to get something on there. Just delete the damn thread.

The only source of knowledge is experience.

Experience >> Knowledge

Experienced hands.

Bringing up workers who prove they can show up on time, get along with everyone, keep a clean nose, and do a good job go further than A degree. You can not train anyone to do a job if they can't show up to work.

Depends on the career. With your list of 3 levels of experience, with everything else equal the one with the degree is higher than the one without. I would think for a large majority of white collar jobs, with of course some exceptions, you can't even begin to get experience until you get a degree (outside of internships, which you need to be in school to do and nobody will hire you after school unless you finished). However, in my field you do need a degree, but a resume of B.A. and 5 years experience is way more impressive than a masters with no experience.

Experience by far is more important, even for entry level jobs.

It depends on what you're trying to do. I don't care how much experience an auditor has, it's tough to be a team lead or a partner without a degree in accounting and a CPA.

Matters so much on the type of job, but also the person.

Needs more details.
