NBA free agent point guard Mario Chalmers is completely healthy and is getting interest from Brooklyn, Dallas and New Orleans, a source said.

I wouldn’t mind Chalmers.

Not a huge fan, but I can see where he could fill a role. Thought they were looking for more of a combo guard though.

I thought Chalmers was considered a combo guard. He played off ball a lot in Miami. Not quite sure in Memphis.

Maybe so. Early in his career he seemed to played combo guard. However, later it seemed he forgot how to shoot and played less off the ball. Maybe it was due to need as Memphis had some injuries.

Career 35,1%, last 5 years 30-32%

So no - he can't.

That’s where I’m at. I just want him to consistently knock down the 3 ball.

When we are talking about low volume, the difference between a 31% three point shooter and 38% is that the 38% guy makes one more three per week over the 31% guy.

One made shot. One

Deciding which guy you should get should not solely come down to this one shot a week. If guy B misses that one shot but defends better, is a better leader, makes others work harder in practice, makes others better, etc. - then that is 100 times more valuable than the one made shot per week

He had a 3 year stretch in Miami from 11-14 i think where he shot around 40% for those years.

He obviously knows how to shoot. His drop in 3P% is likely b/c he simply hasn't played much lately. He's a veteran guy that knows how to play. I wouldn't mind him, but i'm sure there are better options out there, even for non guaranteed minimum salary filler guys.

Yeah true but I want my backup PG to be able to control the offense, maintain the league, and be able to knock down a 3 if needed. That’s why I’m pulling for a vet but if he’s not going to play a lot and be the 4th guard potentially than I just want a dude that can play.

He had a really nice stretch in Memphis before that injury

He's a guy gentry can trust due to his big game experience and is a team guy

This would be by far the most offensive talent he's played with since the glory days in Miami. Those shooting numbers are skewed with his last 2 years.
