Seeing as it has been 4 1/2 hours since he said that and still no reports anywhere, he may have been joking.

I wasn't joking and I apologise to leave you guys hanging. It can be speculation but I heard it from someone close to the organization. I can be completely wrong though so don't stone me if it doesn't happen.

Thanks for the clarification. I guess we should find out soon if he actually was signed. If so, hope it is the 2 year deal that Dell usually does with minimum contracts.

Are you referring to MM, when you say someone close to the organization?

If that is the case, I wonder if another move would be announced first (trade)?

I never said they would sign Jahlil. I know they have discussed him and plan on signing one more guy, but it could be a guard. Frazier, Jack, Lawson, Chalmers, etc.

But Jahlil has been discussed for a while and once Dell gets a guy in his head, he usually brings him in

why do they need to sign someone? why aren't they trying to use the QPon exception to take on a bigger salary, someone that won't require us to give away anything, like you mentioned before with Jodie Meeks. That $3M expiring will come in handy.

They think they can match salary with what they have, so no need to add a guy who won't play.

The reason I think they will sign a guard -- think about when they originally signed Payton. He was meant to be the backup, groomed under Rondo. Now, they don't want him to feel like he is just being given the starters job. So, bring in a Lawson or a Jack, etc to really push him and to show to the team that he "earned it"

Guard is pretty thin if Moore is playing SF.

Sigh. We will just never get a SF on this team. I know pickings are slim but I would rather take the chance on a SF than a veteran G. The need borders on desperate.

The thing that worries me the most is Jrue and Payton are the only ball handlers I trust if the defense is actually trying. It'd be nice if Jrue wasn't forced to guard the other team's best perimeter player no matter how tall he is, but it'd be nicer if he doesn't have to average 5 TOs a game.

Who is even out there? You really want Shabazz? I doubt anyone that the Pels can get on the free agent market is better than Hill or Miller

They have just signed three 6'7'' guys to camp deals.
Not give up Your hope. One can be signed to minimum deal with late guarantee. And another to a two-way.

Thats because you are thinking that there is an even 1 percent chance that a forward we pick up now can have an impact. But thats likely not the case.

I know its hard to wait until February to get a guy that you want now. But its worse to be impatient and try to force a round peg into a square hole. The next guy who signs won't sign because he will be some world beater. He will be signed to light a fire under another player.

If you just give Payton the starting job from day 1, he won't respect it as much and the other guys won't think he "earned it"

Bring in a vet like Lawson who has done things in this league and have Payton outplay him, and that has an added value you can't measure. Coach can get on Payton and point out all the savvy things Lawson is doing in practice - scare the kid into thinking he is losing his job, etc.

Basketball reference doesn't have stats for that, but ask any coach how valuable it is

Jack or Lawson would be a good addition

I think Corey brewer could be what we actually wanted out of liggins. Guy to play with certain matchups and will hustle his arse off all the time. Brewer would maximize his talents I our fast pace, not that it's much to maximize.
