Somehow I don't think Hill/Ajinca/1st gets Miami what it's looking for.

Would hope we wouldn't give up a 1st for those two anyway. Would be taking on additional salary for marginal players.

I'd use our first only if we can offload Hill for an expiring player.

It's all about next offseason for me. We need a star point guard or small forward.

Maybe they’ll take Butler from the west and knock Minny down a bit.

The only way Thibs gives up Butler instead of Wiggins is if he knows Butler doesn't want to stay.

My guess for the next signing if it's not Charmlers will be Jamal Crawford. I can be wrong but I have a good feeling it will be.

3-team trade idea NO/ATL/MIA

It's basically 2 separate trades. I know it's unlikely, but it would balance our roster.

Whose 1st rounder we get for taking on the additional salary in what's a couple negative contracts?

Altanta has multiple future picks; they won't give up future 1st round picks, 2nds are another story. I don't like Bazemore's salary but we need a SF (no knock on Moore). There are other players on the market at SF, like Batum and James Johnson; I would't be interested in bloated 3-year contracts. Bad 2-year contracts won't sting as much (as long as the player is a contributor, at a position of need). We would add needed rotation pieces for this season and expiring contracts to deal the following season (if they aren't in the team's long-term plans).

Why would you want any part of Johnson's contract?

I think people need to be patient and understand what the plan likely is going forward.

Trust me, i enjoy going play with the trade machine and all, but i think the front office has a plan to add a top talent while keeping AD/Jrue obviously, but also Niko/Randle as well.

I think the front office is realistic about the likilhood of attracting that talent next offseason, and will go hard at a trade before the deadline to add that talent. Just have to wait and see how the season starts and where teams are headed. If we are a top 4-5 team in the west, we may be more patient and particular about a trade at the deadline. Maybe we think if we can continue our success, the likilhood of luring Barnes here in the offseason is higher than if we are a 8 seed.
Maybe we are hovering around the 8 seed, and we can't get that big trade done and do something smaller like going get Bazemore.

Nothing significant is going to happen anytime soon, and i'm ready for the season to start. We are in a good position right now, and there's a lot of positives to look at, about the team, and about the future to add talent to the current team. Just need to be patient.

Sounds like your plan is: While the West is improving, we should remain timid. We should bank our future on Dallas or Milwaukee underachieving, and trading us their 2nd best player at the deadline. What if Doncic is legit and Dallas challenges for the 8 seed? Milwaukee is favored to win their division, but we should bank on them failing? Do we really think we can out-bid Cuban for Barnes in the off-season? What if we take a step back, without Rondo and Boogie? With the salary cap bump next year, a lot of teams will have money to spend. I prefer to add established players to the roster ASAP, instead of wishing and hoping.

We certainly should not panic and overpay for marginal players on trash contracts such as Johnson though.

problem with signing TJohnson and Baze you are killing our flexibility and making us virtually tax team without real size SF. Just undersized guys in SG body.

And also with not enough money to resign Miro, Randle and Payton.

AD, Jrue, Baze and TJohnson are owed $90M (cap is projected at $108M)

I would bet that if Butler leaves via trade or free agency, Thibs is gone. Given that, I cannot see Thibs trading him.

No real trades are going to happen now. Some tax teams may dump contracts, but I doubt anyone is giving up a starting caliber SF this late in free agency.

There is a reason everyone in the NBA is on vacation right now.

Thank God you're not the GM. We haven't remained timid at all this offseason

A lot of times the best trades are the ones you don't make
