Let the guys have some prolonged success and build a conflict from that.

From what i've read that is the plan this season

There will obviously be conflicts in each episode but i believe they're going to be reversing the formula and allowing them to have sustained success with ridiculous minor plots that give them trouble each episode

as for TJ Miller, personally I dont miss his character. He was so pompous that it got to the point where it just wasnt funny. The last couple seasons, his only really funny scenes were with Jian Yang.

Idk, man. The way the have set up the 1st episode has me worried. He has already overspent on office space, the pizzas to buyout sliceline, and the staff to acquire sliceline and emoji. They have already hinted that the staff is rebelling against him as well. I hope they use this as a way to fire some of them and reduce his costs long run.

I don't miss TJ Miller at all. His character had absolutely run its course.

However, they can't give all his screen time to Jin Yang and expect it to work, either. His character is hilarious, but it has to be a limited role.

No question. I completely lost interest in him talking about palapas and shouting "Mother frick" again and again.

I enjoyed the opener. I read somewhere that they are going to give the guys more success this season because it's time so it's going to be interesting to watch. They did say that it wont be overwhelming success because then it gets boring, but they are giving them real sustained success this season

Erlich was good at first, but then he was reduced to smoking a bong and one-liners.

Why not just wait until they offered their own pizza? What VC would greenlight this strategy. Just seems like a terrible plot device.

Ever heard of Theranos? 9 billion dollar valuation. No one questioned whether their claims were legit until it was too late. They were "repackaging" by sending the samples to other labs to get the results.

the absence of TJ Miller is massive

He made both Richard and Jian Yiang work. Richard is insecure, incompetent at running a company, and petty. That is not who your lead character should be unless you have a Bachman to play off him. Then he goes from annoying person to plot driver for Bachman's irrational confidence and scheming.

Jian Yiang was funny when he was lashing out at Bachman. Without that his funniest moment was saying something nonsensical, which is pretty low caliber humor.

They need to bring in a new person to fill the void or bring back Russ Hanneman but make him a little less one dimensional.

I’m surprised at the people saying they didn’t laugh during the episode. The opener with the shitty office had me cracking up.

I wonder if there was something more to Laurie giving in to Richards plans for acquiring Sliceline. She put the responsibility right on Monica. It doesn’t seem in character to go along with a plan she thinks is bad. Could she be trying to push out Monica? I can’t see why that would happen so maybe I’m just overthinking it.

It was terrible episode outside Gilfoyle messing with Dinesh. We get it. Richard is a terrible leader but Steve Jobs gave excellent presentations, speeches and drove his company. He wasn’t just floating an idea.

Jin Yang was Jin Yang. No foil for Jin Yang means boring TV. He really excels with someone to play off of.

I’m losing interest quickly but will likely stick it out just to watch it die a slow death.

Yeah I really thought it was a weak episode.

Jin Yang is great in pieces. He reminds me of Leon from Curb your Enthusiasm. He can be the best character in the episode, but he has to be in small increments. I don’t think Jin Yang is good as a main character. Seems forced

I have enjoyed each season. This one has taken a nosedive. Hope it improves.

I fear we'll just be able to have you come in and make this statement every Sunday night and be accurate. The entire thread could be 5 pages long and sum the season up if they don't turn this around post haste.

I thought Jared going all Jimmy Tango was hilarious.

Jian Yang in court was funny.

Gilfoyle and Dinesh at the red light was great.

Richard's interaction with the doctor was also good.
