In fact, I thought last night's episode was quite solid. I am not sure I am watching the same show as you all

Same. Last night's episode was one of the better ones in recent memory for me. People are focusing entirely too much on TJ Miller's departure.

Just watch millers latest stand up. It’ll make you happy he’s gone

Also, anyone notice how hard they are ragging his character this season? Seems like a big frick you from the show to tj.

If that's the one with the water, it was beyond awful.

He was pretty good in Crashing too.

Might have been the weakest ep ever and coming after last weeks disappointment things are not looking good for this show. Better hit out of the park next week.

I don't give a frick about his stand up, he made this show great.

He’s not a good standup, but he has tons of presence and can deliver a line (written by someone else)

He's a fricking bore, and his shite got old two seasons ago. And he seems to be genuinely like that IRL, with a side dish of actor dickeadedness, so frick him.
quote:

He’s irreplaceable

The dickhead who wrongly thinks it's all about him is always wrong. One of the best ensemble casts in years and the one trick a-hole is definitely not "irreplaceable." And if you can't be at least kind of funny as a stand-up, you really aren't funny. I once saw Rob fricking Schneider do stand-up at one of our USO shows. He read his act off of bullet points he'd jotted down in a notebook, and even he he was 10 times funnier than TJ Miller.

I thought it was a great episode. Jared's description of Al Gore as sounding like "a narcoleptic plantation owner" was hilarious, as was his disturbing coding afterglow or whatever the hell that was.

The dog thing was stupid, but they can't all be winners. It continues to be one of the most clever shows on TV but, like every show that has a thread on here, the little buttholes will come wriggling out of the sand to make all of the same comments they make in every other thread, with substituted character names. "Where is it going?" Where the frick is it supposed to go? It's a TV show. If it's funny and entertaining, I hope it runs for 20 years.

i thought dinesh's "do i hate this guy more than i like money" thing was hilarious and having jin yiang be in the same predicament was solid.

the gavin b signature was great, too. they set it up well so that you KNEW the winning signature was going to be something disparaging, but they pulled it off very well. it's still a show about dick jokes.

i think the show is still funny and great, but i do agree that the plot is a little annoying. it ALWAYS has been, though.

The Gavin "Not a Totalitarian dictator" thing was great, I love how his 'yes men' always find a way to throw the HR person under the bus and keep their jobs.

This episode did have one of the better dick jokes in the series.

Agree on both. Gavin scenes have been my favorite this year.

I do believe the show is not as good as years past, but it's still good. I think we just got used to it being a tier 1 show now it's tier 2

E2 was better than E1.

Safe space games , Al Gore talks like a narcoleptic plantation owner, Gilfoyle buying the bike, and Gavin B dick signature !!!

So he lost the presidency to a fake cowboy and now makes apocalypse porn

I'm beginning to think the M/TV board's ship has sailed. Years ago it was a great place to get recommendations but lately it's been a ton of whining and bitching over everything.

The whining, bitching, and melting escalated when TLJ came out. Don’t get me wrong, that movie was crappy, but the bitching has carried on/permeated to every other part of this board for the past 4 months. And I’m fully guilty of bitching about how S5E1 of SV wasn’t funny, but that was warranted as well.

Agree 100% I mean there was a 8 page thread trashing TLJ that was started on April 4, and had 8 pages the same day trashing that movie 5 months later. It's getting comical. I know TLJ was sub par, but really, 5 months later and the same posters reguriating the same flaws for 8 pages in one day?

It's time to move on. It's turned into an obsession on here.

I stopped watching TWD after the 2nd episode this year. I don't start threads about how much it sucks now or go into the episode threads trashing it over and over. It's terrible now, I've moved on. TLJ melters need to take note. It's just a bad look.

Also back on topic, IMO SV is benefiting from Erlich being gone. It's way better not having him smoking a bong in the background saying one-liners which is what he got reduced to. He was good in the beginning but they ran out of material for him.

Erlich had started to bother me a little, but I don't really like the Jian Yang scenes without him.

Jian Yang is 5x the character that Erlich brought. Just seeing him smoking in a nonchalant manner cracks me up. To me the show is still just as witty and funny as it's always been.

I still love the show, I just don't really like Jian Yang that much. Erlich may have gotten stale by the end of Season 4, but Jian Yang hasn't done anything close to as funny as Erlich slapping the kid in the first season and telling him he brought piss to a shite fight.

Quite possibly the best moment of the series to date.
