the "SJW" angle on this movie is hilariously overblown.
I wasn't saying that, I was more implying that she blew some producer.

I agree. Rian Johnson was the rabid dog, but Kennedy was the dog’s owner. I hope Solo bombs so they can kick her out with no dignity.

I have no problem at all (and in fact cheer) giving your creative people freedom to tell their own story, but when you're making a self contained trilogy you need to make sure it all flows together in a way that makes sense and feels right. TLJ doesn't feel like it takes place in the same universe as TFA at all.
I don’t understand how this got past a script supervisor’s desk, especially if they had read Abrams previous script. Like I highly doubt that Abrams would have made the mistake of not having a central protagonist. I’m just asking for pretty much bottom of the barrel competency. I understand the prequels since George controlled everything, but there are too many moving pieces for me to accept this from Disney.

I hate me some Rian Johnson.

i think what happened is they just asked some focus groups about TFA and the #1 compliant was too much like NH, so they said okay lets go in the other direction & just left it at that. Just because i don't want my coffee ice cold doesn't mean I want it so scalding hot that it puts me in I mean the hospital.

The problem is, and will continue to be Kathleen Kennedy.

I just want to say one more time... frick this awful movie and frick the hipsters that are online trying to convince everyone we should like it.

They just decide to throw all logic out the window. The OJ chase might be the single most nonsensical thing in the franchise.

This is the exact reason I'm still pissed about it. I would have rather they not even made these movies than give us the Reistance/First Order and Luke story we got.

ding ding, mother fricking ding. Rain Johnson can make any movie that he wanted but how does this turd make it out the door? Who screened it and then gave the green light for it to be sent out? They had to have seen some dailies and known what terrible direction that it was taking.
I've said it a hundred times, most of the small stuff in this movie could have been rectified with some better editing to give it a time gap. And then the fact that the resistance is left flying off in the Falcon makes it worse because without fast forwarding 10 years, there is no way that they defeat the First Order anytime soon.

JJ demonstrated that if you stick to a very basic formula, Star Wars is hard to frick up.
RJ managed to find a way.

Why did they take JJ off the project?

I mean, didn’t they really? It’s been less than a week since Rey left Jakku. They lost their giant space station and seemingly their entire fleet. Am I really supposed to believe that no one else can field some sort of fleet to take the First Order? Really they seem nothing more than genocidal nuisances at this point. Both sides pretty much engaged in mutual destruction. I have no idea where this universe stands.

Both sides are essentially decimated. There is no governing force in the galaxy.
The sad thing is I have honestly zero clue if Johnson intended for that or not.

To put this in financial context. TLJ worldwide box office is $700 million less than TFA. Disney needs to pay attention.
If you piss off the parents and older crowd, you will not get a younger generation of SW fans. Kids these days do not need Star Wars and have many more options than what we had as kids.

Plus both of their most powerful people are now dead, and Kylo got completely embarrassed in front of his troops by a freaking Luke projection. The conflict is useless, the rest of the galaxy can just ignore the two kids fighting in the corner and work things out on their own.
