One hundred percent would. The War on Drugs is one of the most destructive things we'e done as a country.

At some point crack/meth heads are going to get scooped up by LEO's and spend some time in county and have to get clean. If you give them unlimited dope they will eventually kill themselves with it.

If they are that much of addicts it's doubtful that they have the financial means to score "unlimited" dope.

OK........did the OP hypothetical change?

Did we shift from "I get my gun rights in return for full drug legalization"

to

"I get my gun rights in return for full drug legalization and an imperative that I pay for their frick ups"?

Cause, I'm a freedom lover. You want to do drugs? Cool. Some people really do manage it about like alcohol.

You want to kill yourself with it though, that really isn't my problem.

Seems you're onto something here with regard to this "legalization/decriminalization" idea.

Look people already overdose

The idea that more people will be overdosing because they have this newly found unlimited drug supply is a bit absurd. That's all I'm getting at.

It's more of a side discussion about what is better for society

Some countries have decriminalized drugs and diverted some of the enforcement resources to rehabilitation resources. I don't have an issue with that. It would be highly preferred over the current system of enforcement and incarceration IMO.

In other words literally no different than what is done under the current system?

I completely agree, but then most of these people aren't in a bubble. They have kids that they are supposed to be feeding, clothing, helping to educate, and earning money to support. What happens to them while we are waiting for nature to take it's course?

Under the current system incarceration is often the option

Rehab is another option but this is the poli world where everything is black and white. We either continue incarceration under the current system or let them spiral out of control with no access to publicly funded rehab in the only other alternate system that could ever possibly exist.

It would just be more widespread because you'd more than likely increase the number of users.

I mentioned earlier, but got no response. You do realize that there are a whole lot of jurisdictions (is it most? I'm not sure, but I know there's a lot) that are at least attempting the rehab diversion route, don't you? The problem is, it's rarely that successful.

I don’t think people have a particular problem with potheads. It’s the actual drugs that people have a problem with. There needs to be measures in place so we don’t end up like a lot of cities that have decriminalized the drugs already with needles all over the place, etc.

Weed? Yes. All drugs? No.

You can say what you want about what someone does to his own body being his private business, but many drugs have such adverse effects on the body, abusers would be a blight on society and a drain on the health care system. Who would pay for that? The taxpayers. Look at the opioid epidemic if you need more proof.

I would agree if it’s only weed . For the other drugs to be legal I would want the law to be enforced like it was years ago , when cop shot hard core criminals and no body said anything. That would take care of all the hard core drug users.

Do you have any evidence to back that up or is it just a hunch?
