Body armor only covers the torso area. Shoot at his legs or head.

They make tactical gear to protect the head and legs. That's what the Aurora Theater shooting guy had.

I’d pass a law that creates heavier penalties for mass shooters and avoid your circumstance altogether. Sometimes if you use your brain you can avoid a fight.

It seems that in a lot of cases, mass shooters wear body armor / tactical gear to protect themselves from gun shots. If you were a school resource officer, security guard, whatever, and only had a pistol, how would you stop someone with a better weapon(s) and gear?

You do realize that his "body armor" doesn't just make it seem like nothing happened?

You would knock them to the ground by hitting them in the chest/back

You do realize “tactical gear” doesn’t always stop a bullet. And even if it does, the bullet still has enough force to break bone.

Yes, I do realize this. So you fire at him and hope to stun him or disable him in some way?

It does seem like shots at the dick may be the best option if it came down to it

Make sure your truck nuts hang low enough to drag em over the shooter's face

Have any of you ever talked to someone who's been shot while wearing a vest? A buddy of mine took one to the abdomen. Put him on the ground for at least a minute, knocked the breath out of him, and cracked a couple of ribs. He was alive, but he was down for the count.

Go put a bullet proof vest on then let someone shoot you in the chest.

All mass shootings end in one of three ways:

1. Life in prison
2. Shooter commits suicide
3. Shooter is killed by police

Heavier penalties won't deter someone who doesn't care if they die or spend life in prison

The "tactical gear" wouldn't be my concern.

This

better weapon
would be my concern.

I am assuming the OP is referring to recent events where an AR was used. A long gun, even in the hands of a relatively inexperienced user, does give that person an advantage.

What's a heavier penalty than the death penalty or life without parole?

Most of these people have no plans to be taken alive so the severity of the penalty doesn't mean shite.

Shoot him in the waist. That’s typically an immediate stoppage shot.

Just hope he’s not hopped up on drugs.

Uhh yeah...what else would you do? Your goal is to get him to stop shooting by whatever means necessary.

Also aiming for limbs or a headshot is a good way to get yourself killed, and anyone who has had LEO, Military, or self defense training would verify this.

It would all depend on where he is located and where I would be coming in from. Of course, I would try to avoid the shooter seeing me before taking the first shot.

Since these mass shooters target people who are vulnerable, I wouldn't be surprised if they would panic once confronted by someone who becomes a threat to them. Of course you can't assume that's going to happen, but if they have tactical gear on, you have to try to hit them in areas that are not protected.. But either way, as soon as they are shot at, they would likely stop shooting at anyone they see and then start to try to protect themselves.
