Used to be able to get a battery for under $100. Now they're double that or more.

i dunno, but i got two big arse "factory" ones for my superduty less than two years ago, and i've got the charger on them now because they suck. the shop gave them to me at "cost" and they were still over $300 total (takes two)

I bought a battery for the wife a few weeks ago for $85 and installed it myself.

You're looking at the platinums at autozone for example.
Most 3 yr batteries are around $90-$130.

Maybe let your boyfriend do the shopping next time. Batteires don't cost that unless you're going the Optima Yellow/Red or equivalent route

Our government deemed lead smelting too dangerous so recycling or smelting plants moved to Mexico. Added cost to transport

Just buy the gold batteries from O'Reilly and have them replaced for free every 5 years.

went to Costco three months ago and paid $64 each for two batteries for a dodge 3500 Ram. When did the price go up? Am I missing something?

if you live in nashville, there's a guy who will sell you a reconditioned battery (1y warranty) for any vehicle out there for $45 cash (no tax).
i have a couple in my vehicles for at least 5 years now; can't tell a bit of difference between this and a new one.
i have used him for all our vehicles; it came in handy when we needed TWO tractor batteries for my son's 24v CUCV. saved a fortune.

Just bought a common size battery at O'Reilly's - $129. Same battery was under $100 two years ago.

my truck battery went out recently, went to 3 auto parts stores... all asked my truck make/model, then swear the only battery that would work was the $200+ "platinum, best ever made, fricking super duty" battery recommended for truck.
Finally, just asked for smaller battery, less than half price of "recommended" one.
Been working fine!
