Yeah, but Key, Jackson and Toliver II definitely aren't returning...kind of a problem

The defense this year could have been great if Adams & Godchaux returned, but they didn't because they were ready to get drafted. Part of having some elite players this day in age. You cant count on NFL ready guys to always stick around.

Maybe, but I'm hearing on some draft boards and some analysts that there are major reservations about Arden Key and his mental state....apparently he is seen as a head case. Personally think Tolliver could improve his draft status by staying another year

Tolliver grew up this year, mentally. Has always had the tools. Got serious, won his starting job back and was healthy the entire season. Had his best game as a Tiger Saturday. Don't know his 40 time, but he looks ready to make the jump.

Not the best in coverage at times, but a damn good tackler. I’ll miss him.

Gilmore
Herron
Lacouture
Key
Alexander
Thompson
Toliver
Jackson

All gone. I know there is talent on the roster, but that is a ton of experience to replace.

I don't think any of those three SHOULD leave. I think we'll be surprised when we see how low Key gets selected. I think Donte and KT are gambling by entering the draft early, they should stay another year.

Your heart's in the right place, but, not the best in coverage"? Uh...yes, he IS the best in coverage. There is no one on LSU's team - and I've not seen anyone else in the SEC - who can cover like Donte. He's one of the best LSU has ever had. Some of you guys just spout shite that other idiots write on here. Same people used to say Mathieu was a liability in coverage, Eric Reid takes bad angles, and the two Jalens suck.

I thought greedy was better. Jackson was the guy other teams seemed to pick on. also, he couldn't catch the interception. yes, he got one against a&M.

overall, though, he is a top notch DB.

tolliver needs to mature another year, imo, if he wants a career. who knows, though, if he's rated to be taken early you can't blame him for leaving.

It's college football, man. There is always going to be a lot to replace. Last year we lost:

Lewis Neal
Devon Godchaux
Duke Riley
Kendall Beckwith
Tre White
Jamal Adams
Tashawn Bower
Dwayne Thomas
Ricky Jefferson
Savion Smith
Malachi Dupree
Travin Dural
Ethan Pocic
Josh Boutte
Leonard Fournette

LSU went 9-3 with a blowout loss to MSU and a loss to Troy with those departures and one has to assume the schedule is going to be tougher next year. Also, the defense wasn't even the best in the conference, much less the nation, which is the premise I responded to.

Absolutely none of those guys are considering coming back next year and none of them have made that a secret either.
