Next years defense could be equal to this year’s by late season, but early on it may be a bit bumpy. Lots of young guys getting extended time. Losing lots of experience!

What if
Mo
Brockers
Tyrann
Were there in 2012. Or just Tyrann even. Dammit.

I thought we were young and inexperienced this year though?

why is everyone so certain Jackson is gone?

The Key is keeping Aranda.

I don't care if 2 of each of them come back. They won't be better than the honey Badger and company

Also, the defense wasn't even the best in the conference, much less the nation, which is the premise I responded to.

They could all really improve by coming back. I know they won't but all three are still inconsistent, and immature. LSU really needs to start to be able to convince some of these guys to come back.
They are all first round talents IMO so if they aren't drafted in the first round, then they could have improved. I know this, not one of these guys have hit their peak performance. Guice could also improve as a college player but likely won't improve his draft status. He's another first round talent.
If LSU can't get some of these guys to start staying to mature as a football player in college then maybe they need to change how they are developing them. Treat their freshman year as their sophomore and so on. Expect and damand more out of them all. Something has to change with this.

Stat wise...no way in this era. Go back in history and look at LSU(any team) points allowed per game or yards per game.

Jackson gets beat a lot. We'll be okay without him.
I am more worried about the offense. We lose Gage and Chark and no other WRs really stepped up this season. We have little game experience at QB and we need some RBs.

Well they did play a lot. So those snaps will have to be replaced by guys that couldn't beat them out. I wouldn't get too excited.

I don't have to go back. I watched every game this year and they were all inconsistent bc of different reasons. Guice and Key were hurt all season. Tolliver had a rough start to the season, and Jackson could come back and return kicks and punts while playing DB and be a real force out there. He learned a lot this season, and improved on last season. I'm not concerned with stats bc stats can be scewed in any direction to help an argument. He was the most consistent DB besides Greedy this year but he could certainly get better and play better while helping his team to a championship. LSU is keeping a few players a year away from being in the playoff conversation every year.
