How does what Bama may or may not do have anything to do with Canada's performance against Ole Miss?

Canada is playing the hand he was dealt. These personnel issues are not is fault, but he is doing an excellent job overcoming them.

Big pass plays skew the numbers some.
I don’t understand why we don’t have a single slant or bubble screen package off of the motion

We have DL, not LBs running free... DL with a hat in front of them, meeting RBs just after hand off. Too many screens would scare the shite outta me.

And then there's Etling. I really don't think he has the read ability to improvise that your screens require sometimes.

While I agree that some select one's run at select times is needed, I think severe moderation is required with our personnel and frankly should be a play of last resort for us because of the risk.

Worth noting we started to see more passing to the flanks, especially RBs. And now we have started to see skinny and quick posts (they just don't execute them well). So there is some 'evolution' going on there. I think it's coming. Not any secret playbook shite, or 'saving it for Bama' bullshite, but because of Canada installing it and practicing it to a level where he's comfortable with it enough where it goes from being a risk to being an advantage.

Also worth noting we're stretching the field in other way horizontally. So other than taking advantage of an over-aggressive D, especially LBs, then there is no reason to choose those plays over others. Canada seems to prefer to outflank to get players in space rather than go over them. Both, if working, do the same.

Stoppppppppp. Not a one completion to a wide receiver. Ole miss run defense is on the same level as UL-Lafayette.

You do realize that the balls thrown to them hit them right in the hands and they didn't catch them.

It's cause and effect. The O-line still has issues with pass blocking...if you don't have enough time to let the play develop...you can't make those completions. AND...again, you have to catch the ball when it hits you in the hands.

OM sold out to stop the long ball and Canada adjusted to the run, shovel passes, TE wheel route...etc. Take what the defense is giving, keep moving the chains.

I really like the formation of having DW and DG on the field at the same time, plus the motion...keeps the defense guessing.

I think EVERY time we get in the Red Zone, at least one play should be a jump ball to Davis, Sullivan or Anderson.

Pass protection needs improvement, QB needs to improve, and the WR need to react better when QB rolls out.

This is pretty much the perfect example of a miserable fan who is going to be miserable no matter what.

Etling had 200 yards on only 13 attempts with 2 TDs, and you're going to find something to whine about with the passing game.

They won't load the box. They rarely do against us because they can stop our run without doing so.

I agree completely, after watching the first game, I though oh no, some gimmicky coach with a lot of window dressing. I really feel like I'm seeing why he was hired after last night.

Not sure it is or isn't on Canada. Could be a multitude of reasons why. Not knocking the OM game plan. Anyone could see that teams are running all over them this year.

Yea Canada knew what he was doing . Don’t care how you get 600 yards , 600 yards is 600 yards . People need to shut it about a passing game . Etling has a noodle , he will be servicable sometimes, he will suck at other times . Still our best chance to win .

I take back my McMillan thread , I was drunk on anger.

Agreed. Upon entering the redzone. I'd like to either see the jump ball you stated or at least a back shoulder just short of goal line (<3 yds) and see if they can muscle/wiggle their way in. Most of our WRs have a significant size/weight advantage over most DBs, the S won't be able to get there in time to help with the tackle, and the CBs momentum would be stopped trying to defend the pass itself and they can muscle them flat footed.
