We need city leaders, particularly a mayor that is not trying to serve ALL the people in Baton Rouge equally.
That has to be enough to immediately remove her from public office, right? Doesn't that statement go against the public welfare and the oath of office?
It's mind blowingly racist and brash. It might be the most ignorantly racist thing I've ever read from a local politician. I don't even have the words to continue its so outrageously insane.
Can you imagine feeling so superior and untouchable that you put that statement out?
Imagine if the leaders of St. George movement said this:
quote:
The southern portion of the city is healthy and the northern part of the city is sick. Its diagnosis is “culture cancer.”
We need city leaders, particularly a mayor that is not trying to serve ALL the people in Baton Rouge equally.
Saying “Black Lives Matter” causes erasure of the differing disparities addressed in the All Lives Matter movement. Continuing to focus on the “black north part of the city” when there is a very necessary and urgent need to represent the functioning tax-paying white citizens of the south of the city, is akin to trying to save cancer rather than eradicate it. It is time to cut the cancer out the city

lol
Liberalism is such a mental disorder. These mental midgets spew the same shite, no matter the City. They have strongholds in every run down major city, yet it's whiteys fault.

This is exactly why I brought this here. That quote right there has my blood boiling.
All this bullshite from the mayor's office about not being divisive, acting as one whole city is utter lies.

The only oppression in NBR is self-inflicted.

They destroyed NBR and are now deflecting the blame on those that had nothing to do with it aside from leaving. We could build Perkins Rowe 2 right off of Airline where the Great Hall was and it would be a shithole in 3 months. Nothing will fix NBR except a massive cultural change by its residents

At least the people in North BR hate SWB too

This isn't a black v. white issue. NBR just happens to be a black trailer park. It is a socio-economic problem. Trash is trash, no matter the race. I lived on Evangeline St. until 1997, and saw the decline of NBR.
As for Chauna, she wants the trash to have no accountability. And they want that too, which is why these people keep getting voted in.
I love LA and BR, but I am so glad I don't live there anymore. Living in a place with almost no crime and wealthy people who take care of their communities is actually pretty nice.
Good luck BR.

If everyone switched sides of town, north BR would be booming and south BR would be “sick” within 5 years.
Same goes for failing schools. It’s the students, not the paint on the walls.
shite, look at what the hipsters and gays can do to a blighted urban area. It takes them almost no time to do what the “culcha” couldn’t do in 40 years.

Volunteer at any public school (non-true magnet) in Baton Rouge and you'll see the issue with North BR. These kids have no home-training. It will continue. No amount of money given to them will help.
What is the answer? They are having more kids than everyone else so eventually they will be in position to vote for things they want. Nationwide too.

These people are not true liberals. What we are seeing today is Progressives. This country would be a lot better if we had two groups that were true conservatives and true liberals.

Hell, Chauna just moved to block brand new Section 8 in her district claiming it would be a blight on the community and now she's bitching about affordable housing. Of course, no one in her constituency will know, or care, about that.

Hmmm,
it appears ol Chauna has quite the media heat on her this week. Hayride dug up an old Advocate article. Not sure if this story made it on to TigerDroppings or not, but just in case it didn't:
HayRide: Yes, Chauna Banks Has Been Living Out Of Her Campaign Account, And No, It’s Not Racist To Notice
The Advocate -
Councilwoman Chauna Banks-Daniel spent campaign funds on clothes, hair and nails
Maybe Hayride is just linking the fact that Chauna wants the taxpayers of BR to pay for NBR restoration, but her herself cannot be trusted with managing her funds legally.

how about they just split the city into two separate cities, that way the north can do what they want?
ETA: also, why is 'Chauna' spelled with a C? i find that annoying.

We tried that and were all called racists.

I don't really think you could make a better argument for St. George than this. A MC member overtly, and without influence, advocated that south BR be completely neglected in order to pump money into NBR so Chauna and her constituency can have everything they desire. I really wish the council would approve a new tax. Everyone living in "the white" part of BR will have their taxes increased x2 in order to pay for "the black" part of BR. This way we can facilitate the decapitation of the city rather than sawing at it's neck with a steak knife for the next decade or two.

North Baton Rouge set up their own taxing district right after they were done calling everyone racist for trying the same in south Baton Rouge.
