Do you get the idea that no one does business in Banks' district unless you take care of Banks first?

Oh, absolutely. The problem is that no one calls her out on it. No one even bothered to ask why she approved, and lauded, the construction but vehemently rejected it mere months later. The point I'm trying to make is that people like her have the luxury of doing exactly what they claim is killing "their side" of the city yet are allowed to get away with it because no one pays attention or they are just too ignorant to see what she's doing.

Chauna just moved to block brand new Section 8 in her district claiming it would be a blight on the community and now she's bitching about affordable housing.

What would constitute "Affordable Housing" if not Section 8/trailers? Maybe neighborhoods of tiny houses? I think tiny houses would shape populations or sections of a city who live in poverty for the better. Its hard to cram a lot of kids in a tiny house. Also you cant spend a whole day in there so it would maybe push citizens to find employment or explore educational/vocational opportunities.

To them, affordable housing means a 3500 sft house fully furnished and in an nice neighborhood.

You get it. Liberals were pushed out years ago and rarely exist. This radical social view is progressivism.

I would argue that people like Chauna don't really have any sort of political ideology. She's merely a corrupt opportunist disguised as a "Democrat".

How does anyone type this sentence with a clear conscience?

Her and half the people there only in it for personal gain.

If there was a true investigation into all the recent events (coa, brave, etc), half the people would be in jail and the other half fired

Like I said, I wish people like the mayor and Chauna were given absolute power to do as they wish so we can just rip the bandaid off quickly and let the city implode quickly rather than languish in this inevitability.

the biggest "wtf" in the logic of these people (i'm talking about the Banks, Marcelle, SWB, Gary Chambers, etc group) is the assumption that public investment is what makes areas economically prosperous. public investment is small potatoes and until private investment gets involved, there won't be improvements

I didnt need to know who the guy is...just pointing out that quoting someone and giving no reference to who they are is pretty fricking idiotic.

Was one of my first thoughts as well.

The MC didn't decide what businesses were started in SBR or where they were placed. That was done by the owners and/or investors. Perkins Rowe was not the brain child of the MC looking for new retail/medical/entertainment/residential facilities. This isn't Sim City.

They complain that there are no grocery stores in NBR despite it being a gold mine for foodstuff potential yet no stores are being built. They refuse to acknowledge the fact that no one wants to invest in a side of town that has no interest in investing in itself.

The absolute gall it takes to write something like this.

The worst part is that people cant even call them out for their bullshite without being called a racist.

Calling them out is pointing out flaws and delusion in their arguments....but no disagree with anything they say it its considered racism and white oppression.

also,

They state that white people move out when black people move in.

This is simply not true. White people move out when the crime starts to get bad.

Of course, it is one of the world's great wonders that these two events almost always...... seem to happen concurrently.

And the irony is that they don't want white people moving into their neighborhoods or fixing up their part of town.

correct. just like the HayRide article reveals.

Soon as Chauna got called out regarding dipping into her political fund: racist, you don't see the good i do in da communitee, i didn't know any better, dey b witch hunt'in, etc

same thing here. She'll get called out for blatent racism for what she is suggesting, then play the sympathetic racist card.

yeah exactly. i always brought this up when i'd post about gary's comments about "excluding the money". he really thinks that a few 6-figure public contracts are going to make the difference in NBR. hell even Champion Medical was a drop in the bucket in terms of the EBR economy

they literally have no understanding of economics and support stupid ideas based on either ignorance or self-promotion (political pandering, political machines, etc).

quote:

They complain that there are no grocery stores in NBR

perfect example. hell i think that businesses in NBR can already receive lucrative tax breaks and they still don't invest there. what do they want? publicly-run grocery stores?

quote:

They refuse to acknowledge the fact that no one wants to invest in a side of town that has no interest in investing in itself.

the sad part is that if people did start to invest in the area, they would be criticized for gentrifying the area

it's a lose-lose and they never explain fully what they want. they speak in broad, vague platitudes and nothing else
