It's not about the pay. Getting on the force has always been a decent payoff for the amount of effort you have to put into it. You don't get an out of college salary but you don't have to spend 4+ years preparing either.
The problem is that the leaders are throwing the good cops under the bus with the bad ones while stripping away their authority to do their job.

I thought it was a bad idea when it was done in NOLA.
Doing it in BR is papering over existing issues directly or indirectly caused by shitty leadership decisions like “encouraging” Dabadie to retire and pretty much making the firing of the Sterling incident officers a prerequisite for becoming chief.
