Why does the healthcare debate essentially revolve around like 4% of Americans?

Look, I have sympathy for those with pre-existing conditions, but why must they get priority over the 85%+ of Americans who simply want lower premiums and costs?

Healthcare reform should be based on helping the most people lower their costs, rather than helping a select few at the expense of all others

Because it is a way to sensationalize the voting populace in order to grow big govt.

That's about it.

Because the ACA wasn't about Healthcare at all. It was about redistribution of wealth. Obama used the Healthcare system as a front...using the Healthcare system was like using a tool to remove a bolt...It fit his agenda.

The whole point of insurance is mitigating risk. Any of us can develop a new serious health problem at any time. The protections protect all of us from the risk of being uninsurable in the future.

Seems like charities should be more than capable of handling the 4%.

it is the mindset that it is the government's responsibility that needs to be washed from this country.

There are important lessons one can learn by observing and thinking about the actions of the Left. The question you ask is a good tool to use to conduct such thinking.

Because the politicians and the people who are supposed to be on our side pay attention to the fake media and their phony propaganda.

Two things

1- redistribution and the path to single payer
2- it makes the virtue signaling progs feel warm and fuzzy

Because the inability to obtain insurance with preexisting conditions is a more dire problem than premium costs

Follow up question. Why didn't the Dems just put that 4% on Medicaid and leave everyone else the hell alone? Why doesn't the GOP suggest that now?

Exactly. This is why you can't allow entitlements, because once the left gets their nose in the tent there is really no going back. They will wail about "30 million Americans will LITERALLY DIE ON THE STREETS NOW!"

Have we reached a point in healthcare cost are more expensive than single payer? Does single payer require premium payments? Was this the end goal of ACA? Sadly I think that was the whole point.

It does affect more than just the 4%. When people don't pay hospital bills it makes everyones bills go up. It also affects everyone with private insurance that has a preexisting conditions.

The ACA was a good idea. The pork and the changes in the bill made it really bad.

It may be able to be fixed, but it would take a lot of bipartisan work and support. Which is probably unrealistic. When they are trying to R &R it is down party lines and a few GOP holdouts.

The problem is nothing was ready in January. It is not just congress, but the Trump admin not ready to have something on day one.

It needs to be R & R or fixed, but something good in 11 days is a political fix and not a healthcare insurance fix.
