I have come to the conclusion that it is in fact as bad as we thought it was. Pitiful all around.

Offense, Defense, and Special Teams.

I do think that Mississippi State was the better team this year. But I do not believe they were 30 points better. That falls on coaching. The team gave up.

Defensively it just seemed like we were overmatched. Offensively it felt like nothing was different and we continued to beat our heads against a wall.

We should be used to it by now.

State will lose their next two..@ Georgia & @ Auburn, then later at home v. Alabama. Where we go from here is anybody's guess.

Stopping them on 3rd downs to have penalties give them a 1st killed me.

Yeah, State will lose a couple of games this year. In the grand scheme of things our goals are still in reach but I have no illusions of this team being good enough to reach them. They'd have to win out and barring some miracle that is not happening.

I knew this would be a rebuilding year but no way would I have predicted this kind of an arse whopping by the cow bells. Coach Cookie Monster bout to bring us the back to the 90's. I bet Les is wiping his tears of laughter off with $100 bills.

The entire game can be summed up in 3 words. Lack of discipline.

I was certainly no fan of Miles and was all on board for firing him at the end of 2015, let alone last season. But say what you want, his teams were ALWAYS discipline and on the plus side of the penalty ratio.

I hate to say it, but the team we watched Saturday night looked almost exactly like O's teams at Ole Miss looked. Poor discipline and costly mistakes. So what exactly has he learned again?

Team wasn't mentally prepared.

We will see if that can be corrected moving forward.

State was the better team Saturday night, period! We played like hot dog shite. Anything and everything went wrong from the 1st drive of the game. I'm not a big fan of "If", but with that being said. If, we get that 1st drive TD the way it should have went down this game could have turned out different. Football is a game played on emotions and confidence. As the game went along and we kept shooting ourselves in the foot time after time after time, it can get away from you, just like what happened Saturday night!

It's over, time to back this team and move on!

We will likely lost 4-5 more games if we continue to play the way we did @ state.

ETA:I guess there is a pussy on this site who thinks we can win a bunch of games playing the way we played Saturday......good luck with that.

I tried to rewatch the game and it pissed me off even more.
Didn't even make it to half time because I knew the outcome.

Our team played like a D Line coach was running the show. We were undisciplined and overly aggressive at times.

Just like a defensive line

I thought you were going to say "after sleeping on it a few days, it wasn't as bad as I initially thought. The Tigers fought hard and although the score looked bad, if we'd have caught a few breaks we could have won"

A few days?

It hasn't even been 48 hours. Though seems like it has been days.

I agree with nearly everything you wrote. A good post. However, you can only partially blame the coaching. And that's not making excuses for the coaches. They are to blame more than anyone else for the loss. However, if you caught some of the post game interviews with some of the players, they all said that the coaches prepared them for exactly what they got. I can't blame the coaches for the senseless penalties and for extremely poor execution by the players. They lacked the very basic fundamentals of the game that they learned in pop warner, camps, high school and all the way through present day.

You are exactly right about the team giving up. The coaches seemed so shocked by what was happening that they forgot to coach, and that is completely, and obviously, unacceptable. The only difference between the coaches and myself was that my jaw dropped to my floor while theirs dropped to the field. Etling and the other leaders on the team showed no leadership at all. And for everyone who keeps saying, "it's only one game. Get over it." Well...it's not just one game and I'm not f*****g going to get over it until the team starts playing LSU football. I still feel absolutely miserable over this game. I can accept a loss (sometimes anyway!), but this was no ordinary loss. I know the players are better than this. They know they are better than this. The coaches know they are better than this. I think we, the fans, deserve better than this.

With all that being said, maybe I'll work on being a better fan. I have to remember these are just very young men and they are going to make mistakes. This game was a 60 minute mistake, but I have to believe they will be much better than this going forward. To start calling for coach O to be fired and other stupid s**t like that though, is not being a good fan. So, I'm still a coach O fan, an LSU fan, a college football fan and a Louisiana fan, and I won't waver from that just bc of this loss.

Eric...good post again. I used it to launch my frustrations, so my apologies for that!

I watched it again, we were still doing OK until Alexander got hurt. I had a problem with the hurry up offense when Our Defence was depleted . Their first two run plays seems to surprise us and they were just runs off tackle?

Toliver caused a couple huge gains one being a TD by running up to the line on a play action, he once blocked two of our guys out of the play.

We would shift and they would counter ,didn't bother them at all. Vanilla offensive game plan , no screens no short passes?

Just a Bad game. Everyone has them.

I think they beat Aubern easily and we will to.

Defense - Over-matched and Lost

Offense - Who we were and are

Special Teams - Same old, same old

As LSU fans we have high expectations and we always think we are better than we may be. 2 things to consider #1 Aranda is a great DC but is his expectations way to high for the players we have, yes we have athletes but are they smart enough to run his scheme, they were lost. #2 Canada may be a good OC but he has not yet been doing it in the SEC.

Six OL left the team during the off season. That kind of attrition comes with a price, which was paid Sat. night.

All other problems are secondary to this IMO. Must be addressed or the lashings will continue.
