Is Corpus Christi the biggest city that nobody thinks of as a big city?

I've never been there, but always thought it was like the size of Monroe or something. I really had no idea it had 400,000 people and had a skyline that looked like this:
Am I the only person who was completely out of the loop on this place?

Yea I'm in the same boat. Never been and just assumed it was a dump.

Well, it's in Texas, so I always assumed it looked like this:

I didn't realize it was that big either... but I knew it was decent sized.
Corpus proper has about the same amount of people as NOLA proper, but the metro area is a good bit smaller.

Huh.. well who would have thought.
Here I was thinking Corpus Christi was some sort of joke about Chris Christie's rotundness.

I've driven through it. I'm sure it's like any place else with nice areas but around the highway it is a profoundly shitty place.

San Jose is an often overlooked city.

I do a lot of business down in Corpus. Yes, the first time you go the skyline will shock you. However, there's actually a lot of money in South Texas in Corpus is really the only major city. But it is still a giant shite hole.
You want to talk about the land of the haves and have not's ... it's Corpus Christi. The 20% of white people own everything and then it's just a shite load of Mexicans.
Also something you wouldn't know… The McAllen area is soon to be one of the biggest in the United States. It's huge.

That skyline is deceiving. Downtown along the shore line isn't anything to think of.
And that's not a knock against them. The best view of the water area is from The Republic located inside the Omni hotel.

I had no idea either. 400k is double the population of Birmingham,AL. But I would not know, I'll never go to that shithole known as Texas unless Auburn is playing for the NC there.

I thought it was a tiny coastal town where old people retire.
