College Grads- How many of y'all got jobs in something you didn't get your degree in?

Curious to see how prevalent it is for companies to hire people with degrees outside of their field.
I have heard companies don't care as long as you have a degree in something and I've also heard they can be very specific to what you graduate in.

It really depends on the company. There are definitely companies who will hire people with just about any degree, as long as you graduated with a good GPA, but there are other companies who are looking for specific degrees.

CommD major. Went into finance for 16 years, now I'm a construction estimator/project manager.
It all depends on the field of the company you're applying to. Don't apply to be an engineer if your degree is in 19th Century Women's Literature. But you could get an entry level banking job just because you have a degree.
ETA: I tell people that if they're not sure what they want to do, pick a degree that forces you to take math/economics/upper sciences; something that requires math reasoning. You open yourself up to a lot more fields than, say, a history major. Also, writing skills are very overrated nowadays. I have had CEO's of multi-billion dollar companies send me emails using text language. Verbal skills are more important than writing skills.
