re: That Kid Jayden

That kid will never buy his own dinner in this town again. I’m a Tiger living in DC now and I’m loving this.
I read Washington Irving's Legend of Sleepy Hollow.

I'll throw in The Morgan Library & Museum

I've done this one and it is fantastic. They have a great afternoon tea as well. Loved the Tenement museum and tours as well.

Glycemic index chart or app

What is the best glycemic index chart or app that you’ve found? It seems that the quick-hit top Google entries vary widely for foods. Thanks!

Lesser known museums in NYC

Posted by MissTiger91 on 10/1/24 at 12:18 pm
I'll be in NYC next week and want to go to some of the lesser known museums or the ones off the beaten path. I've done all the big ones: Guggenheim, Met, MoMA. Recs?
I liked both of those books. I always pictured Phillip Seymour Hoffman as Bunny for some reason. Definitely not a fan of her other book The Little Friend though.

Day trips from Boston

Posted by MissTiger91 on 6/30/24 at 2:31 pm
We’re heading to Boston at the end of July for a week. We’d like to do some day trips out of town for some of those days. We’re interested in Salem, Lexington and Concord, Walden Pond, Quincy and Plymouth. Obviously we can’t do all of those. What are your top recommendations of those? Rent a car or hop a tour? I’m not opposed to checking out of Boston and staying out of town for 2 days and then going back to Boston to catch the train home. Any ideas are appreciated, thanks!

Definite game changer for me. I got some compression ones from Amazon and have been very happy. It's nice to put all your dirty clothes in the big one at the end of the trip and then just take one bag to the laundry room when you get home. My set came with a shoe bag that keeps your shoes from getting everything dirty. I'm able to pack for 4-5 days in a carryon bag.

Hotel recs in Philly

We’ll be there for the long Presidents’ Day weekend and want to see all the historic stuff (Liberty bell, Independence Hall) as well as the Battleship NJ. What are your hotel recommendations? We’re Hilton Honors members but also enjoy boutique hotels. Budget is $400/night. Thanks!

re: Any Pen lovers on OT?

I think it’s viscosity. I keep a few Lamy Safaris that I dedicate to sparkly inks, so I’m not heartbroken if they get hopelessly clogged.

I would get some samples of bottled ink to see what you like. Personally I like Iroshizuku, Monteverde, and Diamine inks, they behave well in all of my pens. Online retailers Goulet Pens and Vanness will let you get sample sizes (2-3 ml) of just about any ink.

I like both Lamy and Kaweco, good German engineering. The Lamy 2000 (fountain pen) is one of my favorites. Papier Plume in the French Quarter has a nice selection of pens, paper, and ink. I always stop by when I’m in town.

OP here, sorry. I won’t be checking a bag. I do have Pre-Check.

New Orleans airport

Posted by MissTiger91 on 8/23/23 at 9:39 pm
How bad is it these days? I have a 1:00 pm flight out on a Tuesday and will be returning a rental car. So how early do I need to get to the airport? Thanks!

NY Finger Lakes region

Posted by MissTiger91 on 8/18/23 at 7:55 pm
We’re interested in visiting upstate NY’s Finger Lakes region and would like recommendations. We’ll be traveling in mid-October and have a week. We enjoy hiking, wineries, shopping, eating, enjoying nature. I realize that area is large and spread out, so please help me narrow it down. What areas have you visited and enjoyed? Hotel, VRBO or B&B recs appreciated. We will be driving up from Northern VA. Thanks!

re: Question for DC Metro riders

Even if the gate was open and the scanner wouldn’t accept my card (it did have money on it)? The other gates in my immediate vicinity were open and people were walking out.

Question for DC Metro riders

Posted by MissTiger91 on 4/19/23 at 6:54 pm
Metro Noob here. Last week when I exited the Metro at Crystal City, my card (app) wouldn’t scan. I looked down and the gate was open so I walked through. Now I keep getting notifications that my trip is still “in progress”. How do I fix this or will this prevent me from scanning in the next time I ride?
Charlotte's Web
The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe (the series gets darker)
The Sorcerer's Stone/Harry Potter (the series def gets darker)
The Magic Treehouse series
