A year? If so Jesus man that's a lot of vacation time. I don't get any. Consider yourself lucky.

FWIW, this seems to be a common assumption in this thread - but isn't there a second relationship with the brother in law? Presumably there is a familial relationship there as well? If the OP was the brother in law wouldn't many of the respondents be quick to jump to the point that the husband taking in a sister in law is taking sides at least at some level?

If the marriage is to be saved the husband and wife need to meet one on one without the interference of sisters, brothers, etc propping up the petty emotions and one sided representations of a relationship's failures. Even if a husband and wife decide they can make it work the people who were used to prop up the ego of one party will not forget all the nasty one sided stories that were told in the dark days of a relationship.

Agreed. Sounds like you don't care about anyone except yourself.

You must not be married. The BIL is now a POS between him and the wife until she says he isn't

Some people do not want to be helped. They just want to be enabled so they can go right back into an abusive situation.

I learned that, in domestic situations, people need to solve their own problems. There are so many programs available today to help them. They have to truly want to change their lives.

I don't get it. Your SIL is on your vacation or just staying at your place while you are on vacation? If the latter, what's the issue?

She is not leaving him baw. She wanted to show him that if she decided to leave, she had somewhere to go. You took that from her and are a bastard forever in her eyes.

I will probably be viewed bad by her, and my in laws

Of course you will. Remember though, your in-laws didn't take her in either.
