You played this hand in a non-optimal way. You should have told your wife you expect her to consult you on this type of stuff first, and that you were really looking forward to your vacation, but it's fine. Then you could have used this situation to your great benefit and your wife would not be upset.
You could have golfed everyday, got drunk, and expected your wife to pick you up and she would have had to do it with a smile on her face.

Tell your wife that since her sister is going through a hard time that your are willing to spread the sexual love with both so that her sister can see what love is all about.

Speaking for myself, the closest I've been to divorce was when in laws came and stayed for more than three weeks.
If it happened again a preemptive divorce would probably be less painful.
Having said that, did you mean it when you offered to let her sister stay "for a while"? You might have been trying to be nice but jesus, that is the kind of open ended invitation that can only end poorly.
